How was Focused Rage?

I’ve seen a few suggestions to implement something like Focused Rage for Frost DKs to help with some Obliteration playstyle issues.

Since Arms Warriors have actual experience with the original, how was playing with Focused Rage?

Boring. You got enough rage that the vast majority of your rotation was stack focus rage as many times as possible while still having rage for Mortal Strike.

Off-GCD abilities used to alivate issues with resource capping are bandaid fixes. If you have more resources than you can spend the problem is your spec is generating too many and needs to be reevaluated.

Thanks. DK does seem to have overwhelming amounts of resources lately.

Absolutely dogpoop and promotes carpal-tunnel producing habits. Even when you bake FR to a macro, it still feels awkward and stress inducing to maximize stacks while still having enough rage to keep your GCDs rolling. No, it’s not exciting gameplay.

It wasn’t outright terrible, but it required floating combat text to even feel like it did anything more than induce carpal tunnel and the occasional Rage-bar-staring, and it did have arguably “degenerative” tack-on effects.

If it had other actions to better compete against or sync the buffed MSs to without…

  • on one extreme, leaving one seemingly just standing there between, or
  • on the other, just leaving FR as a dump for excess Rage

…it probably could have been halfway decent.

I imagine that’s the context anyone thinking of a FR inclusion into Frost are assuming: Like FR, but actually decent, and thereby giving back KM some of the degree of control it used to have when there were (more frequently) competitive alternate uses for a given GCD than just Obliterate.
