How unlocking Druid for everyone affects class balance?

That’s okay, I don’t expect mechagnomes to have access to Druids. They can rot in their smelly homeland. That island does not deserve being defiled.

I get the idea that to some extent after years there would be some cultural bleedover as individual babby orcs grow up idolizing druids or sunwalkers or whatever, but I’m not stressed about there being some exceptions (especially with classes that take extra work)

For me. Class/race combos should be a reflection of the lore of the race. This is accomplished through two methods.

Class/race restrictions like we have now.

No class restrictions, but stronger racials. Both positive and negative that will push certain combos. An example. Yes. There might be a blood elven druid. but the racials attached to blood elves would push people away. This would reflect that even with cultural bleedover, the blood elven or orc druid still exists. But it is rare.

I like the idea of synergestic racials but looking at how cracked Alliance racials for priest were in classic and how good Belf pallys were in TBC, its probably for the best we don’t get that. Even though I’d love if my tauren got a “Smack a fool with a 500 lb totem” skill.

Though I like the idea of anti-synergestic racials. Wanna be a gnome warrior? Sure. Here’s 2% dodge and -15% damage done.

I think there could be other routes. On par with your gnome idea.

Passive magic buffs for races more attune to magic.

Passive physicality buffs for the more muscle races.

A night elven warrior more suited to dodging blows. An orc warrior more suited to absorbing the hit.

Doesn’t need to be an activated ability that works best on any class, regardless of what is picked.

But like. I would expect the paladins/knights of humans and blood elves to carry the bulk of the army.

I would expect night borne to churn out top casters.

Etc

They didn’t remove.
They added few more classes to some races.

Class x Race restriction still exists.

While I don’t NOT play Druid, it’s very specifically not my main because it’s not a gnome. All of my characters are identical gnomes (my warband character select screen is going to be so pretty! Well except for that one of these things is not like the others night elf druid over in the corner) and it would absolutely be my main if we had gnome druids. It may sound silly, but I’ve been a gnome since 2004. Being A Tall feels weird and just not like “me.” And as a resto main, I AM in nelf form most of the time. (I tried to use tree form but there are some abilities that are always popping me back out.)

Anyways, I still play my resto druid occasionally, but it’s currently 4th string. Not because I don’t love druid, but because I don’t love my character. So no, I don’t refuse to play druid because of race limitations, but I specifically don’t play her much because of them.

I realize I am in the very small minority here, but people like me do exist whether you believe it or not.

I mean to be fair to you resto is the only spec that actually has you playing the race you picked a majority of the time so this is basically the only spec where I see it as important - at all.

But it’s just not that important.

It is to me! But hilariously, tree form makes me even taller than nelf form.

Anyway, short druid race plz.

It is important to you because of limitations that you have placed on yourself.

And, as I said before, it still wasn’t enough to stop you from playing the class. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, both points I have already acknowledged.

Anyway, short druid race plz.

Fair enough. I won’t get in the way of the request. If you want it you want it.

I am just saying I don’t expect an explosion of druids because everyone that wants one already has one.

You don’t have to do any of that, they choose to do that.
You can change the game code to allow all race druids in 5 minutes, then slowly drip feed out new animations/forms/etc over the next 2 decades.
People just want to PLAY their class as their favorite race as the #1 priority.

If they don’t add Druids to more races in the end I’m fine with that too. I’m happy with the choices we have now. After the HUGE customization update we had in this current expansion. I’m satisfied with where Druids are at.

I’m not sure how it matters. Anyone that wants to play Druid just limited themselves to a few player races.

Add race transmogs, like those transmorpher toys you put out during the feast or before a pull.

I’m not. Even discounting Mechagnomes, many races can still learn Druidism, from what I can tell. I was looking at my Shadowlands Covenant list (yes, some of us have a list of which characters belong to which covenant. lol), and I was disappointed in the number of Alliance Druids on my list, since there are only 3 races, and four covenants. I have a similar issue with Demon Hunter, Evoker, and Paladin.

As to the customization of Druids, I do believe it is greatly improved, but I feel like they stopped too short of making it really impressive, to me. There are way more cats in the game that could be used, more stags, flying creatures, bears, trees, etc. They just need to load up the barber shop, and let people pick what they want. They should also add each race’s unique Moonkin selections, since I shouldn’t lose my HM Tauren’s antlers, just because I decided to change the color of the feathers. Do I appreciate the update? Yes. Do I think they should have gone further? Absolutely.

Agreed with this. The whole argument of “well they need time to make and add a racial bear form, racial flight form, racial feral form, etc. for each” just doesn’t work for me, considering all of the models are already in-game. We have so many cat, bear, & flight models that aren’t used that could easily be assigned to various races in a way that makes sense. No need to make new models - we already have them and just need to use them.

Considering the customizations and new models druids got in the Emerald Dream patch, they seemed to be moving away from unique race models anyway. Most druids who use a custom form that they’ve unlocked are forms that any other druid can get. Use models in-game we already have for base bear, cat, travel & flight forms, and let’s go already.

vulpera druid when

this doesnt matter.

It’s 100% the cost of art. Druids require an absurd amount of artwork compared to other classes. The next closest is Dracthyr, and Monks after that (they added a lot of new animations for Monk.) No other classes after these 3 listed have significant artwork needed. (Warlock pets are effectively just using existing models and giving access to those models.)

I’ll tell you why this will never happen. They would need to create new animal forms for every race. They aren’t going to put their resources into it.
