Just join a guild that runs a lot of m+. The IO score and ilvl will come as you run random keys you get with guildies. Also you can look for completion runs on +10s if you are a little under 430. They don’t stress about timer and just want the dungeon done.
Alternatively just go to nazj and get full benthic and run bgs in that and start generating conquest.
Or even better do a mixture of all content and just get your gear from multiple sources which seems to be what blizzard is wanting to encourage.
Okay let me ask you this. And this is no offense to you but since you claim gear really matters, why aren’t you pushing past 2k? You have better gear than even some of the top pvpers. I guess my point is, gear only takes you so far so why not do what you enjoy? For randoms, you don’t need the top gear. As for Benthic gear, you don’t need to fill every single slot. Think of it as filler gear. Look at the CP schedule and work in pieces around the first few.

First let me preface my response earlier was sarcasm at how horrid blizz gearing system is for PVPer.
As to why i am not 2k atm thats simple. I have no desire to push rating in this busted system we currently have. Could i push to 2k. Sure with a decent comp.
This season i have just offered my time to anyone who wanted games and is having trouble finding teammates.
Though frankly with what i have seen recently after i earn my mount i may quit arena all together. Very disappointed with the current state of things.
Also if there is not massive pvp changes in 9.0 i may walk away from arena perm and just do BGs as i find them actually enjoyable.
Naz gear, assaults, world quests, emissaries, low level M+, regular mythics, world quest/LFR titanforges, a guildee with some crafted items, heroic battlfronts; there are many ways to get up there;
Yeah if you don’t find it fun to do that sort of thing then I can understand; personally getting a guy from 370 or so to 436 in a few weeks is fun and kind of a challenge
Though without doing WQ/M+ you are limiting yourself…
Arena feels more comp dependent than anything. I never enjoyed it, though 5s was fun when they were around. I appreciate your answer but I still don’t agree that you need to do all that you listed for random Bgs. World quests for mana pearls and cp cap is more than enough.
Yea but most of that was sarcasm. However if you really want gear( 440+) you do have to do all that BS its how i geared up.
This season i have played very few games consecutively. However the last 2 days i have played quite a few.
Its really left me dishearten.
Every season i have played pushing through the 1700s would always be a good 70% win rate as it was still pretty easy in those brackets.
That said i just bounced around pugging with anyone and prob had a 40% win rate Sunday but faced mostly rogue,lock- Rogue, mage and Lock mage teams. And they could play so carelessly and still win.
So out of curiousity i jumped in a TSG group and went 8 for 10. The overall experience just really disgusted me
Just a casual observation, but if you are a ranged DPS or a healer you can “get away” with having less gear/less iLvL to a certain degree. Obviously you will still get chunked down when focused, but you passively avoid a lot of damage just by being at range.
It’s mostly melee DPS and tanks that suffer the full effects of being undergeared. Because they are “right there” in the middle of the teamfight, and thus easy targets.
An undergeared melee player is a dead melee player.
Depends on the melee. Rogues can do well… SS inc soon. DKs are a melee but more of a ranged melee. I can see Warriors having a more tough time but that’s nothing new with Warriors and gear since forever. And then off specs like enh shaman/feral druid/surv hunter.
Raiding heroic is not the way to get geared quickly by any stretch of the imagination . No guarantee of loot and the 8 bosses can be downed only once a week .
What you need to do if you have time is to spam M+ 10 dungeons throughout the week . That’s where you get your 430 plus items in bulk .
I was just listing everything. while i agree M+ is your best odds… well IMO i have had friends and guildies that have gotten up to 5 drops from 1 raid. Not bonus rolls but thats rare.
On a general full clear i will get 2 to 3 items no including stuff that is passed around.
I’d still rather do what I enjoy. Plus, call me crazy but I like fighting as the underdog… it’s why I enjoyed sniping the AV premade during wod (which was a boring as heck expansion imo) Also my Lock is 420 just doing randoms and some rated BGs and I hadn’t even started with the 430 gear. This was before Classic came out so I’m guessing I’d be 430+ at this point. I don’t think a whole 10 ilvls more is worth not enjoying myself in a video game.
Ya that’s true but the benthic 420 gear with socket is in most cases anyway superior to the 430 heroic raid gear … the only good things are the raid trinkets .
If you are playing destro im sure you could still do well in BG’s at 420 considering how overtuned they are. Also im 445ish depending what im running in bgs and i dont run into a lot of people at my ILV. Unless its a premade i would say average is probably 410 to 430 in bgs
From a shier DPS perspective it totally is. However you lose out on a lot of sta with upper end gear. Now if you are only factoring 425 soc vs 430 none socked benthic will win hands down every time. However war and titanforge change everything. Wish they would do away with it.
