I started a warlock as a change of pace. I have never really played one in classic so it’s nice doing something different.
However, what am I supposed to do in instances? I have only been in deadmines and stockades so I don’t have a good sample. I guess this is more geared to stockades going forward to SM. Multi-dotting felt lackluster as hell. Sure, they were ticking away but things weren’t dying so it was just more pressure on the healer/tank for longer. Am I just supposed to shadow bolt spam just as a mage would cast frost bolt?
This post is focused on the damage aspect instead of the other things that warlocks bring like curses, etc.
How do I warlock?
Thanks
Here is what I do.
I soul stone the healer, give a health stone to the tank. Then I curse of reckless everything so my physical DPS does more damage and then I just smile and bring positive energy hoping they don’t look at the DPS meters.
Then once you get hellfire use that.
Basically this.
Hellfire for max damage or rain of fire to be safe.
You have less of a threat buffer in melee range before you get aggro so rain of fire if tank isn’t doing good at AOE threat.
The meta seems to be using Hellfire and Life Tap to be on as low HP as possible at all times.

Use your Succubus. It’s significantly more damage than using your imp.

This is why lock is so metal.
I’ve always heard that locks should use Shadowbolt instead of dots. Most mobs die before the dots even tick halfway through their countdown
I tank alot and yes most locks do insignificant damage.
But then maybe a month ago i grouped with a warlock and he was top dps in a lib/arm run. I had to ask him how he was doing it and he said he just corruption and shadowbolt.
I think that might be the move.
