The stats are a weird mix of melee crit, spell crit, mp5, AP, int, and strength, with a bit of spell damage/heal thrown in. This includes the rank pvp gear, as well as the various pvp faction rewards.
Is there any particular playstyle for which shamans have made the mail pvp gear rewards work for them? Perhaps some sort of enh+ele combination?
Don’t try to make them work. Grab the maybe one or two pieces that work for your spec and move on. Everyone knows the gear sucks for the hybrids.
It’s itemized with hybrid play in mind. So your frost shocks, heals, and melee attacks will all benefit. It’s an enhancement PvP set for PvPing as enhancement.
What? Lol not at all. It does very well for what it’s made for, which is hybrid PvP. I’m not as familiar with the shaman PvP set, but the druid one is BiS for what it was made for even through Naxx.
Hybrid pvp was always a fantasy that only worked because people had no idea what they were doing and were so bad back in vanilla. Even then really it only worked because people had such bad gear for so long and poorly even then. It’s just bad. The druid set is probably the best set, though for feral. Not saying that’s a bad thing at all.
That’s only true for Paladins and Shamans. For Druids, Priests, and Warriors, the PVP sets are quite good.

Warriors and priests are both hybrids.

Not really. Elemental shamans are pretty godly in PvP. They have absurd burst and can still heal very effectively.
Hybrid druids are also really good.
The only hybrid specs that aren’t so great are enhancement shamans and ret paladins. And they can still smash faces in.

I don’t mean hybrid as in anyone who plays the class. I played elemental back in vanilla and i play elemental now. Obviously i enjoy it. I meant more the jack-of-all-trades type of hybrid. The one with the 21/22/whatever build if you catch my meaning. Or the guy who has a whole bunch of every random stat on his gear like the shaman or paladins set have.
The PVP set is literally built for hybrids. It’s fantastic for hybrid or off-meta pallies, shammies, warriors, priests, and druids. It’s the best option until tier 2.5 usually.
when you pvp hybrid gear is good. ur not trying to max dps, but a mixture of survability and dmg.
It’s better replaced by individual pieces. Many of which you can find in MC and a lot more of which you can find in BWL. Some of them are good for your spec (which is why i said the 1-2 pieces but it can be a couple more). The best set by far is the druid pvp set for feral. And that’s because it’s mostly ideal for surviving and tanking.
edit i will further iterate that the druid set is also by far the best because druids are also further limited to only leather. Unlike paladins and shamans, which opens up more gear options for them by stealing from hunters and warriors.
