hi, im a new player and i’ve been testing out a few classes like mages warlock rogue hunter, and i think i have settled with lock for now. currently only level 24 with less than 10g, i spoke to a guildie from retail and he could spare me 500-600g as he doesn’t play classic anymore.
i know 500g is not a lot to veterans but its something that’d take me very long to get. so my question is, how can i utilize this to help me have a better start i.e what should i be prioritizing and how can i maximize this given help… tyvm
Dont get the 18 slotters; 16 slotters will be fine plus maybe a bigger shard bag. 18s are not worth the price especially if you go tailoring later and can make yourself after you have mooncloth cds to burn.
Lock mounts are cheaper but they still require a series of mats that are NOT cheap–even if you can hire a lock that has already gone through it and has the mount to help.
Dont bother buying any gear unless its a monster upgrade for less than a gold or two. You will blow through gear leveling quickly.
Also make sure you are buying spells that are necessary and not the ones that you wont use–Samegoes for your spells/books for pets (but dont be that guy buying upgrades for your pet at lvl40!)
18 slots is way too expensive. 14 slots should do you just fine and costs WAAAYYYY less.
900g.
Warlocks (and also paladins) have a special questline for their epic mounts. You do have to buy some expensive materials for the quest, but I believe it does work out to be cheaper.
For warlocks especially it can be cheaper as you can skip buying a few of the expensive items, if you can convince another warlock who has already bought the items to come along for the final quest step.
A lot of the cost for the warlock quest is in the final three items you have to buy.
J’eevee’s Jar 150g
Black Lodestone 50g
Xorothian Glyphs 50g
If you can convince another warlock who has already bought these items to come along for the final step in Dire Maul, then you don’t have to buy them yourself. In that case, I would estimate the total cost to be around 350g.
Don’t buy 18 slot bags. They’re way more expensive than they’re worth until you’re 60 and you actually need the bag space for all your extra gear and consumables. Plus there’s some free ones you can get when you start raiding.
For leveling, runecloth bags will do just fine.
As others have said, save that 500g for your epic mount. Nothing else is really worth spending gold on until you have that.
For a warlock, yes I believe it is. They can get an epic mount MUCH cheaper by doing the quest chain for the warlock epic mount. If you really want to save on gold you can find another warlock that already has the mats. I believe there’s still some arcanite bars or some other expensive thing that you need so even with a warlock with the mats I think it’ll still cost around 200g or so.
