How to use Shimmer please help with advice

Hey guys, I made a fire mage for casual pvp just to kind of have the opposite feel of my shadow "all front loaded damage" but I cant for the life of me understand how shimmer works,

If I start casting greater pyro and then "blink" it cancels the cast, same with sheep. am I missing something?

I have seen mages mid cast of GP or Sheep blink but for some reason it never works for me any ideas wha i am doing wrong?

Are you breaking LOS? You still have to kind of be looking at your target.

As Ryansworld said, breaking LOS is the only thing that comes to mind that "cancels" your cast. I think there is a slight leeway/lag time that it will still keep casting even if you're completely facing the opposite direction of your target though.

I don't know if you're playing with arcane momentum/if it'll help, but I found playing w/o it helps with the Shimmer mechanic.

You maybe hitting shimmer and then doing any slight movement that cancels your cast. Try casting poly, then only hit shimmer. Don’t move you’re mouse or strafe. See if that helps

I just figured it out......it was user error/retardation lol I havent played my mage since before shimmer was a thing so my blink was a macro

/stopcast
/cast Blink

in order to escape.......thanks for your responses lol im just a tard

Change your macro to this:
/stopcast [notalent:2/2]
/cast Blink

It will only cancel your casting if you don't have the shimmer talent selected.
