How to use Heart of Azeroth essence

I’ve gotten three or four essences, but I have no idea how to use them.
Like the first one everyone gets with the scale from deathwing and being able to fire a firebolt or some such with the major power. I can’t click on it and drag it to my action bars. So how do you use the darn things? I’ve heard you can do a macro to do it, but I’m not good at macros, making or using. So what do you do?

You have to go to the heart chamber and install(right click) them in your necklace. Then you pick which one you want active, and you should get a button that you can then assign to your bars.

I’m not getting any buttons. That’s why I asked. I’ve looked in my class book and in my talents book. Nada. I have the first essence loaded in my necklace with the fireball or cone of fire as my major talent. Nothing shows up. I’ll keep trying I guess.

I believe I did it by opening the heart window (shift-rightclick, I think?) and dragging from the “major” slot directly to a button. I’m not certain if I did that at the heart forge or out in the world, though.

To install the essences, initially, you have to go to the heart forge, right click the forge, which brings up a special version of the heart window, then in your bags right click the item that represents the new essence (or new rank for an essence you have).

To select essences to be active for your heart at any rested xp place, right click your necklace, then click an essence on the right and click the minor/major place to put it into. Only the major essence matters, the order/location of the two minor essences don’t matter.

To add the major essence as a spell on your action bar, either open your spell book (hotkey P) and drag and drop from there or from the heart essence window, drag and drop the major essence from there.

Minor essences are all passives and can’t be cast.

The following macro uses the generic ability name for the major essence.

No matter what you change the major power to, the macro above will show the correct image, tooltip, and cooldown, and most importantly fire the ability.

I finally got it to show up in my spell book. I just kept loading and unloading it into my necklace and it showed up after five or six tries in my spell book. Then I did as you suggested and loaded it into my action bar.
