How to unlock Dark Iron Dwarves at boosted lvl 50

So I’ve come back to WoW after a long break and I did not do BFA at all. I used a lvl 50 boost for my new Mage, and I’d like to unlock the Dark Iron Dwarf race. However, I don’t see any intro quests available to do so - none of the Ready For War quests seem available, and as I boosted my toon I don’t have quests that WowHead says are available starting at lvl 35. Everything I see and have access to is Shadowlands only.

Anyone have any advice or tips as to how to get started? I’m a little worried I won’t be able to do so without lvling up a toon from scratch.

Ready for War is an achievement. You have to finish the first part of bfa War Campaign. You can get orange-ish quests from the Halford on the ship at Boralus. If you are a Horde, from the Horde counterpart.

If you are a solo player, I recommend to lock your xp at 50 cos it seems there are some issues about soloing bfa dungeons with a 60 lvl alt.

Thank you! So you’re saying I need to go to Boralus to get the quests? I thought there was an intro quest in Stormwind but like I said it’s not available. There just doesn’t seem to be an easy way to start the bfa campaign for people who never did bfa.

Noted about the dungeons/lvl cap - do I need to complete dungeons to get the achievement? I know there’s one for Mechagnomes, didn’t think there was one for the Dark Iron Dwarves.

Do yourself a favor and stay worgan – they can mount in the maw with their racial running wild mount.

Go to the hero’s call board in SW. The herald NPC should have the BFA intro quest for you (turn on trivial quests on the minimap just in case). Once you do that, you have to work through BFA. Unlocking all of the allied races requires a decent amount of work on both alliance and horde, in both Legion and BFA. The first part of the war campaign to unlock dark irons is fairly fast. Kul Tirans require a lot more, the entire alliance story campaign plus a majority of the war campagin.

I do not remember the name of the NPC you have to talk to. The Horde version is right outside Grommash Hold next to the hero’s call board. I assume that for alliance it’s similar, but in SW.

or druid, travel form gives you 200% speed. perfect meow walker!

Travel forum is same speed as ground mount? I thought ground mounts were 20-30% faster.

They are…travel form is a 30-40% speed boost over walking, but not as fast as a mount.

I think this should be right. : )
My demon hunter (which starts at Legion xpac automatically) has BfA intro at hero’s call board. It’s next to the auction house.

During the war campagin iirc you don’t need to do the dungeons, but you need to do at least one bfa dungeon during unlocking AR storyline.
good luck ; )

No they are not. At some level you get travel form rank 2. Out of combat your travel form gives you ground mount speed. In combat it’s “just” 55% boost.

Thanks everyone! I will try out the suggestions and see how it goes. All I’m looking to do is get the one achievement I need to get the scenario to unlock the Dark Iron Dwarves - I like the fantasy aspect of having one as a Fire Mage.

I would recommend just roll another toon and start right in BFA. You gonna level in no time, literally in 1-2 days. And lock xp at 47, because at 48 you’ll get SL quest, and people are saying that xp lock npc is phased out if you have quest (which you can’t decline or abandon, you’ll instantly will get this quest back). Once you started SL quest, you can’t que for BFA dungeons.

Or, iirc, you gonna have to run just one dungeon, you can find someone lower level and party sync with them.

If I were you I would just create another character (either at lvl 1 or lvl 10 if you have an allied race unlocked) and get to 50, lock your xp and then complete the achievements on that toon. It’ll be a lot easier because that character will have leveled through BFA and will be gaining xp while doing it.

So I just realized I have a lvl 35 (now 36) Ret Pally sitting in storage, so I think I’m going to use him to get these done - the BFA questline came up right away for him and now I’ve gotten started - 100 War Resource yaaaay.

Thank you everyone for all of your help!

Just FYI, I checked, ANY hero’s call board herald should have the quest, it’s called “Tides of War”. If you are 50 or higher you won’t see it unless you are tracking trivial quests.

So I just checked on my Mage, and I don’t have Tides Of War as an option - my choices are Broken Shore, Tanaan Jungle and Mount Hyjal. It would appear that boosting a character to lvl 50 instead of lvling up one naturally eliminates the ability to properly do the BFA achievements, which seems strange to me and makes me think I’m doing something wrong.

There should be nothing on the call board for bfa. Just talk to an npc that directs you to sw keep, and you see the jaina/anduin scenes of scrying over a surviving soldier. Then you go to the boat near the dock (jaina I believe is the quest person), then you head off to bfa content.

If anything pull up the quest tree and then input the quest id into this chat command. If it says true then you have done it.

/script print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(QUESTID here))

Most bfa quests will remain as very prominent yellow/orange markers on your overworld map. So you need to look around.

So I looked, and none of that is available - Jaina is not at the docks and Anduin is nowhere to be seen, and no dialogue triggers it. I have Trivial Quests turned on, and still nothing.

I did, however, see what happened when I went into the Mage Tower in SW, and sure enough there’s a portal to Bolarus. I then can immediately begin the Blood In The Sand questline without having to do any of the foothold quests, and my mission table is already complete. I am going to try and complete the campaign quests now and see what happens at the end…

Very likely cause you boosted, several of the intro (prior level 110-119 quests were flagged as complete). Maybe even that some stuff from nazjatar is marked as done for that character.

Just confirmed - I checked the achievement tab for these quests (why didn’t I think about that to begin with?) and the first three achievements were completed. Just finished Blood In The Sand with no issues. Looks like boosting does semi hide the BFA stuff - it’s still there if you want to do it, but it’s not as “in your face” as it would be while leveling.

Many thanks for all the replies - hopefully I now have a clear path to get me some Dark Iron Dwarves!
