KK, as I suspected Blizzard has FORCED Dragonflying on us in the new zone with a Pathfinder unlock to use the better form of flying. That sucks, but I can cope. However, how do I turn off the dragonflying so that my mounts do not change my hotbars to the useless dragonflying skills? Do I need to put in a ticket? Is there a mod somewhere?
Please tell me there is a way to disable this mechanic. It sucked in Dragonflight and it still sucks and I do NOT want my hotbars changed over when I mount.
You have to do the campaign quest line and explore all of the zones for the Pathfinder achievement. You do not have to do ALL quests… just the ones with the shield symbol around the !
If you just focus on that, you should have pathfinder complete pretty quickly. Then you can change flight modes whenever you want. I had it done by somewhere around level 76.
Just got here, so I haven’t unlocked Pathfinder yet. I am happy my random mount button now brings up flying mounts (it doesn’t anymore in any other expansion) but now the flying mounts it brings up changes my hotbar to a bunch of useless skills. Was hoping I could at least disable that while I work towards unlocking pathfinding.
Otherwise I guess the random mount button is now just for Blizzard’s chosen and I will have to go back to standard mounts.
I will mention that if you have steady flight enabled (the old style flying) and you do a racing quest, dragon flying will be turned on and left on afterwards. You’ll have to turn steady flying back on manually.
There’s no way to prevent it as far as I’m aware. Only thing you could really do is just use ground mounts until you finish the campaign if you’re strongly against dragonriding.
Not yet. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to, but that appears to be the only solution until we can complete Pathfinding.
Too bad, really. I was hoping to be able to see the ground animations for some of my flying mounts that can also be used as ground mounts. Too bad Blizzard doesn’t like fun.
It isn’t as bad of a pathfinder grind this time around. You just have to uncover the map of every zone. That will unlock static flight. You can probably do it in around 30 mins or less if you dragonride around fast. After that, open your mount journal and look in the top right. There should be an ability there that lets you toggle skyriding off.
KK, just found out from some research and reading that the Pathfinding achievement is just a form of discrimination on Blizzard’s part towards the older, traditional form of flying.
Thanks to everyone for your information and help though.
