How to tell what server you hopped to

I clearly am not on my server but doing /who there is such a mix of players from different servers I can’t tell which server I am on.

You are on your own server if you are in a major city like Stormwind or Orgrimmar. If you join a group you are on the server the raid leader is on. Or the majority of the group I think it works I may be wrong when it is grouping.

I think servers are just a soft suggestion about what shard you’ll be put in.

No more server mergers now, just reassigned to differn’t shards.

You can kind of get an idea about which servers are real dead looking at Raider IO.

Unique servers which have “residents” and “visitors” do not exist as you imagine they do. To you and everyone else you see, whoever is not from their server appears to be a “visitor” from elsewhere.

I think it would be useful to be able to see which servers contribute to the shard I am currently in at any given time.

The bigger issue is if you’re hunting a rare spawn in old zones like WoD, MoP, or Cata; and you see them in one zone, but when you cross that invisible border they vanish because you just been put into another server’s version.
