I’ve been a disc priest playing pvp since the BC xpac. I kinda know what I’m doing. I’m not the best nor am I the worst. However I can not figure out how Blizzard expects me to survive multiple 4 second casting lockouts in a row all the while taking damage. In the bg before this post I was literally locked out of any casts for 3 x 4 secs…thats 12 seconds for you non math majors. I have one trinket. I don’t have hots, I have one real instant cast and my best cast is 1.3 seconds long. I am ally so I have no help in bgs and horde actually know how to play and all pile on me first. This is a genuine question so trolls please save your “Get better” posts for somewhere else.
I’d like to get into how Blizzard has screwed this class up totally on damage too but I guess that’s for another post…
yep, thats what i said huh? it wasnt about 3 4sec stuns that let me take damage and didnt allow me to heal huh? On top of all the other cc’s that i have to endure. I must have read my own post wrong
Actually, unless somethings changed you can still use https://www.wowhead.com/item=116276/draenic-living-action-potion
it is darn useful as well for removing and preventing stun locks, you can even use the older version for 5 seconds instead of 3 but its harder to get.
Plenty of older consumables and what not work and are useful at high levels if you look around for them.
Goods news, you don’t have to.
You have a whole team of people who can peel for you.
Even though you are already dismissed the “git gud” reply, it is true either way. Learn to recognize swaps and anticipate big damage so you can pre-wall.
Well, you could always go Orc for the racial, then use either medallion or the 1 min cooldown one, then see if any of the old stun resist or stun prevention mechanics from previous expansions gear stack with the Orc racial, but thats about it and you would lose a ton of stats. You could also see if any Azerite stuff allows you to make a quick heal, absorb or escape with predictive measures when you get overwhelmed, Some of those powers are darn strong. Orc racial itself is pretty darn strong as well by it self any how against stuns.
How about we start with a solarbeam/tangle…
Followed by a kick…
Followed by another kick…
Followed by a magic lasso…
Followed by a shock…
Followed by silence…
Followed by … you name it.
DR is bullshhhhh it. There is no DR except from the same person.
Eh, your class was always the toughest to avoid stuff like that, but it is possible if you keep track of everything and know your limits, You know silences counter you so you just set up everything and manage yourself to avoid it.
How about I’m ally and they never protect healers. How about I stand back and horde just rush me and 98% of the time they don’t peel or cant kill who is on me. I have literally had 2+ horde on me while ally mount and ride by.
IS NO ONE READING MY POST. YOU ALL MUST BE PVE. YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT ITS LIKE TO HAVE 5 HORDE ON YOU EVERY TIME YOU TRY TO HEAL A FIGHT. ALLY DO NOT PROTECT HEALERS. ALLY DO NOT ATTACK HEALERS. I DONT EVEN THING ALLY KNOW WHAT A HEALER IS.
People are probably dismissing your posts because they’re full of bullshet.
Yes I do.
I’ve healed on all healer classes on Alliance side.
From the perspective of both horde and alliance side, this is wrong.
When I am being attacked by Horde I see Alliance help me out plenty.
When I am playing as Horde and attacking Alliance healers, I get peeled plenty.
You’re either completely blind to your teammates actions or you’re so far in denial regarding your own capability that you just want to blame everyone else instead of looking at yourself.
I mained a Holy Priest since Cataclysm up until mid BFA. Discipline has the luxury of casting in two schools. I know you tried to preemptively put up defenses by saying
But the unfortunate truth is you are not good at your class and should probably get better. Read a guide, watch a video, do a rated match instead of a random.
Get good, scrub.
My point was not that you shouldn’t have trouble surviving 5 players, my point was that you should rarely if ever have 5 players on you most of the time unless your team is losing, which if you don’t have 5 players on you then it should be usually fairly simple to support your team unless they are out of range or taking extreme damage.
Disc priest is an RBG/PvE healer. Second best bg healer in the game, only behind MW. If you’re getting kicked, good. Let yourself tank the kicks and just have another healer be able to freecast to keep you alive (in bgs). And since you soaked all their kicks all those disgusting firemages and destro warlocks on your team can just spam gpie and chaos bolt to do infinite damage
To die in 12 seconds you basically need to be taking 25k dps and be receiving literally no healing and using no instant casts before you try to hardcast/fake and using no defensives and not kiting at all. If you’re taking 25k dps or more it should be obvious and you should be using something.
We do Atonement from Shadow Word: Pain or Purge the Wicked.
Bait or juke for spell-locks on Shadow then pop Rapture and repeatedly Shield yourself until end of lock-out. Then repeat the juke/bait on Shadow to get the next one to kick.
If you’re stunned with 2-3 melee on you, pop Pain Suppress early.
Dont use Penance or Smite when you’re spell-locked on Shadow unless it’s 1v1.
Ultimately a healer being trained by multiple players will eventually die unless their teammates help them. It’s a matter of surviving long enough for others to notice and come to your aid.
I run with Body and Soul so that I can use Rapture to move within range of my teammates. They will swap targets to them, or at least the cleave damage and AoE CC will help.
