I’ve reached a new plateau of 1900+ as H Priest, and while that may be my maxed out potential (almost 40), how does a healer with no damage mitigation abilities survive 60% damp when my abilities barely move their health bar?
With damage as high as it is this late into the expac, it’s not feeling the best.
I don’t want to reroll as I have limited time to play, but curious what strategies I can employ.
Ur age has nothing to do with being good or bad at this game it’s not an FPS.
Have cooldowns available when you need them most.
(Hey look the ret wings is coming off cooldown better make sure I have angelform pi hymn to straight up counter it since they are both 2 min cds)
(Hey the ww has serenity soon I’m gonna make sure I have gaurdian spirit to counter it)
Also you can straight up use cc to prevent enemy from getting off damage (like using chastise stun on the dh as soon he pops essence break then fearing him out.
That’s it? I’m almost 50 and I do well enough in certain scenarios. Although, I do believe arena/SS is more enticing to younger gamers. I’m not talking about playing rated casually, but actually pushing hard.
You can’t really claim age itself as a deterrent unless you’re at the point where your eyesight is getting worse with diabetes and trying to move makes your joints sound like eating a bowl of Rice Krispies.
whereas cc’ing healers is the priority a majority of the match, when deep dampening starts setting in it becomes more crucial to cc dps. stopping damage is just another way of healing that isn’t effected by dampening.
this also means your damage becomes more meaningful… do with that knowledge what you will. i generally think using your damage to spread the pressure and easily enable swaps until they ultimately crumble is the best avenue; but generally you’ll just see people try to overwhelm 1 target with damage, which obviously also works
you also have to realize that dampening is put into the game to make you not survive. good healers with bad dps could keep games going for +40mins without dampening. the entire point is that you just don’t/can’t forcibly push your team to continue on so there aren’t any “solutions” yknow.
it’s also worth mentioning you’re playing healer in an expansion that has seen a fairly large healer drought. so you’re not alone in this feeling and blizzard has done little to quell it.
Okay, maybe not actually eating it. But when the milk hits it makes that glorious sound that makes every five-year-old think it’s the greatest experience of their lives.
I haven’t seen anybody mention these yet (and the advice of managing CD’s for high dampening + CCing DPS to slow damage are great), but other options also include:
Ending the game before getting to 60%.
I’m not memeing when I say this, but if you think the match is going to drag on, try to do whatever it takes to close the game out sooner so you don’t get to 60% damp.
Keep your team healthy before you get to 60% dampening.
From experience, the worst mistake I make is playing aggressive at 30% - only to fail, get CC’d, fall behind at 40% and then never recover.
Nah…I doubt this. I’m not nearly that old yet, but every other senior staff member at my firm is roughly twice my age and sharp as anything. While I get they’ve been in the industry longer than I’ve been alive… age hasn’t slowed them down and I swear some them work at Mach III.
The only advantage I find that I have is that I’m more willing to adjust to newer tech faster, where as they need to be dragged kicking and screaming.
Point being, force yourself to try new ways of playing and see if that helps with rating too.
ive made it to 100% before but the whole game changes post 70%. it becomes basiclly a game of avoid over tank and the team that realizes first that the change happened. but legit the whole game changes. its ridiculous how much
