Stop buying gold…
Wow that was hard to figure out.
Stop buying gold…
Wow that was hard to figure out.
That’s weird. I’ve never bought gold, yet there’s bots all over the place.
Clearly this is a lie, because bots exist and bots only exist because players (i.e. you) buy gold.
Dont even try to argue the soundness of the logic – that is precisely what a gold-buyer and/or bot would do.
It’s crazy how botting increased alongside the acceptance and popularity of GDKPs in Classic…
Must just be a coincidence.
Is it just me? This seems to have exploded in the last week or two. I really didn’t notice bots months ago - maybe the occasional one or two. A few weeks ago or so - start noticing them more and more. And now fast forward to today? BGs are 80%+ full of bots. It’s growing?
They’ve always been around, but Blizzard has recently been having staffing difficulties and pulled resources from Classic. Classic has hardly anyone working on it. The bots tend to pile up when more difficult content comes out because GDKPs require people spend incredible sums for hardmode BiS that most people won’t get.
There are pots approaching 3/4 million gold right now in Ulduar 25, with some going well over 1M gold with Mim head sales. Someone has to farm that gold, and it’s not the people raid logging nor is it the people who get GDKP payouts(as attending a GDKP doesn’t actually generate the gold in circulation).
Yeah that’s weird…
Generate, no; enable it, yes.
What if we just mainstream botting? Since clearly there is no consequence for it.
Start posting free non-malware botting programs on the reddit threads.
This isn’t some trick to get Activision to respond, im just saying it’s not going to change, so lets all bot as well. We can farm our own gold while at work. We can level our alts painlessless while we are at work and sleeping.
We can even farm pvp honor for gear so we don’t have to suffer through the initial gearing process.
Why not?
On Whitemane a certain guild that should be named but won’t be(because you can’t name people on the forum) sold a Mim’s head for 1.5M gold…
Doing a bit of research that’s roughly $3k for a mount(that always drops on 0 light). There’s a reason top guilds on large servers also run GDKPs. The progression clout is a means to an end so the guild leadership can RMT. It’s a side hustle and it’s decent irl money. Granted they also use these funds to purchase fully leveled 80s, which they also gear up in GDKPs, so they can run multiple comps to push progression…but having multiple geared 80s allows them to run multiple GDKPs throughout the week. Selling more mounts, more gear. It’s not uncommon to see people trading gold caps between 6 alt accounts at this point and some of them have even come to these forums to ask for gold cap to be increased.
It’s all actually rather sad what Classic has become. It’s all about RMT now, very little is there for nostalgia’s sake.
There’s a reason people buy gold instead of botting it themselves. People like to pretend that bots don’t get banned but no one posting here is botting on their main account and it isn’t because their morals are stopping them.
Bots could and should be banned faster, that’s obvious. They do get banned eventually.
Wow. Blizz should hire you and fire their entire bot combating team, since you’ve got it all figured out.
Literal denthead wojak.
The people who buy gold couldn’t care less about botting or that their actions exacerbate the problem.
i agree they should add RDF
Stop driving cars and there won’t be anymore drunk drivers getting people killed or injured from crashing.
Stupid post made by what I assume is a troll.
Yes I stole this comparison from another poster but it makes sense.

If Blizzard actually actioned people for buying gold in a meaningful way the rate would also plummet.
But people sneak through with their gold purchases and even if they get caught they get a 3 day ban, couple weeks at most. Give em a 6 month ban and see how many people risk buying.
They can be kited by a druid… Moonfire them and run around… Makes it easy in AB…
There is no way we can stop them. We are not able to ban player accounts. Blizzard has to do this.
