How to stop companion/battle pets from auto following me around?

I don’t want battle pets dragging after me wherever I go, but every time I engage in a pet battle, the pet in the lead spot begins following me.

It is super annoying.

I’ve looked and looked but can’t find a way to stop this behavior, so I’m forced to go through the multiple step process of dismissing a pet a dozen times a day. And that’s more than annoying.

Anyone know how to stop battle pets from auto-following you?

Can’t you just right-click on the pet frame and click dismiss?

Every time you put a pet in the first battle slot it summons it. However, if you are in the air on a flying mount or sitting on the ground (not standing), then it won’t summon the pet. I always sit down before slotting my first pet so it won’t be summoned.

I have the opposite problem.

I mount up and fly somewhere and I have to open the battle pet UI and summon the pet I wanted because it despawned.

Even if its just short hops around Dorn.

I’d rather have a pet carseat on my mounts and pay an additional 2 seconds mount up cast time so they can hop on and ride with me. Then I wouldn’t have to keep summoning them.

I think leatrixplus addon has a setting to desummon auto-summoned battle pets.
