I never did Legion on my characters, but I wanna get the Lightforged Draenei and I need to do the Argus questline.
How do I start it? Every “walkthrough” I’ve seen doesn’t really help.
On a level 60 toon btw

Go to khadgar and see if he offers the quest “A shooting star” (or falling star?) something like that.
Where is he? I don’t have Dalaran unlocked on this toon
Gotta do legion intro quest. Try the war board in org to see if you can start it there.
Oh sweet. I forgot I can skip the intro quest cuz I’ve done it on other toons
The falling star quest is not required. However, he will have to open up the broken shore before “The Hand of Fate” will pop.
In Legion you have to first do Uniting the Isles. Khadgar gives it in Dalaran at the Violet Citadel.
Then go to Krasus’ Landing and Khadgar will be there again with the Broken Shore intro quest/scenario. Do that next or skip it if you can to get the base camp there.
Then when that’s done go back a third time to Khadgar and get the Hand of Fate quest. That’s the Argus intro.

You only need to complete up to step 13 to unlock Argus.
Oh wait, is that the one that opens up suramar? I thought it was where you find the chunk of naaru.
The “falling star” quest is only required for the priest and paladin class halls. It happens off the shore of Suramar, but is not related to opening Suramar.
step 1: check if you have broken isles world quests, if not talk to khadgar in the violet citadel to accept “uniting the isles”
step 2: check if you have broken shore world quests, if not, find khadgar at krasus’ landing and do the scenario/skip until it tells you to return to dalaran
step 3: pick up “the hand of fate” quest from khadgar in the violet citadel and do the quest.
