How to Sim for Assassin PvP?

Hey guys, I'm wondering what the best way to set up Raidbots for simulations of Assassin PvP would be? I don't fully understand the way stats scale in an instanced pvp setting this expansion, and feel like I'm optimizing incorrectly.

If I set up a Patchwork sim with my pvp talents set up, i get Agility > Mastery > Vers > Crit > Haste. According to every pvp guide I read, this is severely undercutting the value of Haste lol.

What do you guys do to determine stat weights for pvp?
Don’t over think it. “Optimizing” gear is significantly less important in pvp compared to pve.

Haste>mast>vers=crit for Assa pvp.

Follow this general priority. Stack Azerite fortification and overwhelming power traits. Haste and mastery enchants. Don’t worry about the tinniest dps gain/loss from one item to another. Pvp is infinitely more about game knowledge and skill than it is about optimal gear.

Don’t forget about the hidden scaling system. Item level isn’t over everything like it is in pve, if and item is 5-15 item level higher with terrible secondary stats(vers/crit etc), use the lower IL item with good stats (haste/mast).

Crit is devalued in pvp. Critical strikes hit for 200% of normal dmg in pve, whereas in pvp they hit for 150%. It is impossible to use any type of pve dps simulator to determine pvp stat weights as those stats have totally different values in instanced pvp.
Hey Dropx, thanks for the quick detailed reply. You are probably right about how much I'm overthinking the optimization. I do much more PVE, so I've become accustom to that mindset lol. I didn't know crit took that big a hit in PvP... Thats good to know.

With gear being less important overall, what about trinkets? I've noticed that most of the top players are using the gladiator trinkets. Is this because the top players get really high ilvl versions of these? Or is the burst potential with them just overpowered regardless of Ilvl? I ask because all the pvp trinkets I have are 30-40 ilvls below my PvE ones.
I actually have a question on PVP gearing as well. My biggest question right now is that I got the laser matrix azurite power on my chest last night for a PVE quest I completed. I have 375 chests with battlefield focus or laser matrix on it. I know Laser matrix is powerful for PVE, but is it worth it to use over battlefield focus in PVP. I tested it in one quick skirmish of 3's last night and it actually did pretty good damage (about 17k damage and 17k healing, 4% of my damage, and some of it was absorbed above the 17k).

Thoughts?

For rogues there is no such thing as "top traits" for any spec. Your most valuable trait is always in flux depending on what gear you have and your current secondary stat %s.

When simming, you may see it say Agi > Haste > Mastery > Crit > Vers
and then once you get a few new pieces of gear it might say Mastery > Agi > Crit > Vers > Haste.

This is more useful than a generic guide. Cause it reveals what stat will give you the most dps in your current gear.

That being said. From my own sims... Haste/Agi are roughly equal, Mastery/Crit are roughly equal, and vers is usually last.

You definitely want an on use trinket for pvp to assist with burst. Since they have 2 minute cooldowns, I just bind mine to vendetta.
As for trinkets, I would suggest using double on use pvp trinkets or one on use/one proc. It is debatable which on use trinket is better(vers vs agi) mainly because nobody knows exactly how agility is calculated within the pvp scaling. You always want at least one on use trinket, the second can be somewhat personal preference.

Most pvpers have easy access to 375+versions of the pvp trinkets so it’s just easier to use those. However, there are probably some really good pve trinkets if you are able to get high item level versions of them as well.
