How to see DPS on character sheet?

I’m new to retail - played in the olden days and had recently rejoined classic.
How do I see my character’s DPS in retail? I don’t mean in a raid-setting… I mean so I can see how equipping a new item effects my damage (e.g., so I can accurately assess whether the lower damage weapon with +10 agility is better than the slightly higher damage weapon with +2 agility).

Character sheet now only shows attributes and enhancements… but not actual damage!

Thanks!

This doesn’t really exist anymore, sad to say. You would have to use third party sources to figure this out.

Thanks for the response. Do you have any recommended add-ons? I was looking at DejaCharacterStats but it was out of date and won’t load (even with override).

People use a 3rd party website called raidbots, but it’s only relevant at the level cap.

I use a combination of adding but your best bet at lower levels is to use an addon called ‘Pawn’. It’ll tell you how much better an item is based on ilvl and stat weights.

When you reach cap, raidbots is king (you can sim just about anything and it will tell you your dps) and bloodmallet is good for reccomendations.

UI addons, such as ElvUI, can show you damage (see below). But if you want a breakdown of your DPS, you’d have to use something like Details or Recount in the game itself, or simulate it on Raidbots.

Recount, it seems to get updated the fastest when blizz patches and breaks addons, Recount will track real time dps, overall dps, display damage done… all sorts of stuffs.

I’m not looking to track damage. Just want to know what my calculated DPS is for a given weapon/stat layout. Just like it shows in classic when you mouse-over damage on your stat sheet.

Thank you all for replies.

If I plan on twinking in a battleground I would take the time, but while leveling, the gear is updated to fast to even worry about it. I just make an educated guess.

I do recommend using your boost to get to end game content quickly and experience the expac while current.

Keep an alt for leveling to experience old content. I would not repeat dungeons, but would like to see them all while leveling.
