Playing in BG. You try to cap flag and 2 rogues gank. You get stunned, what do you do first as fire? Medallion, blink, ice block, or just wait out the stun? After that do you frost nova, blink, or cast dragon’s breath? Do you sheep first or later on? What if they medallion your sheep? Do you cast fireball or have time for greater pyro? Or just scorch and fire blast to proc hot streak?
You pretty much just lose. If they have even 10% of a brain there’s no way you really win. I’d probably trinket temp the first kidney, breath and try to ring both of them. Pressure with gpie and they’ll probably trinket. Nova them and try to gpie again. If you’re lucky you’ll get cloak instead of bomb/blind/vanish. If you do get cloak insta combust and try to yolo one of them. When they do connect, try to get a blink sheep on one of them to take some of the pressure off. Hold block for caut or vendetta, especially if they both vendetta you while you’re at high HP.
How about 1v1? If I have FIrestarter talent, is it better to cast pyro into gpyro?
Would I have a better chance going frost? Thanks.
Rogue vs mage is almost entirely a game of cooldowns. Whoever runs out first dies. I don’t play much anymore, but I’d say greater pyro is still best against rogues. You’re not going to be casting very much honestly. Instead you play around sheep dr, nova, and try to bait their cloak so that you can combust and kill.
1v1 I sit the first kidney unless they vendetta, then I trinket temp or just block it off. Otherwise save trinket for blind. Nova or breath and try to sheep them, then cast greater to get their trinket. If they trinket and you didn’t get the greater off, re-sheep and get a greater on them. Temp as they get close if you have it, with hopes to pre-temp the kidney shot. Waddle around and refresh barrier until nova is back up and nova > greater. Ideally you get vanish/cloak/bomb from that. And so on…
There is a sort of script to it, but it’s more so a case of surviving long enough to get their defensives out of the way.
I don’t think frost would fair much better honestly. The double block is nice, since you can afford to block a stun, and you can also safely use trinket on a kidney shot because the pet will keep them in combat if they blind you. Frost does lack the raw instant damage that fire has, and there’s not really much you can do to finish them off without casting if they live through your cds.
Remember you can cast fireblast during your greater cast. If you do it right, it’s greater, fbfb, pyro, scorch, pyro (they will panic anything they have left usually to get away from the massive dmg coming at them(and that saves your combustion for when they re engage, hopefully, without anymore survivals)
