Can someone please explain in simple, complete terms the process and steps it takes to add ranks to the BfA Legendary Cloak? …horrific vision…major assault…minor assault…Lesser Vision…mask…‘run’…what the hell does this all mean? I have the cloak so what do I do to add ranks and offset the gear corruption?

You should have a quest from wrathion in the chamber of the heart that requires you complete certain objectives in horrific visions. If you complete the required stuff you’ll get a quest item or two from the end chests that complete the quest. You then turn in the quest to wrathion and he’ll give you an upgrade item. The max level of the cloak is 15. After level 15 you’ll get upgrade items from visions or n’zoth that increase the corruption resistance by 3.
Either complete the quests from Wrathion or kill Heroic N’Zoth.
Holy $hit…I don’t even get a chance to fire at the target, Alleria. I just enter the cathedral and get 1-shot dead, and I’m at iLvl 450. What the hell is that all about?
Did…did you have the cloak equipped?

This is kind of an important detail, yeah.
The first time you go in, its supposed to be a hard fight because you don’t have the Orbs of Sanity yet. The second time it gets way easier.
I think the short version is you have to keep killing the boss in the horrific visions?
…what defines a ‘horrific vision?’
First few times it is just killing the boss, but you have to eventually move onto killing the bosses in the other zones.
In other words, kill the boss.

That place you zone into after clicking the big portal thingy in the heart chamber in silthilus.
You punch the vision badmans, and Wrathion gives you shiny pieces of goop that you jam into your cloak, making it stronger.
Collect Coalescing Visions until you have enough to buy a Vessel of Horrific Visions from Wrathion, and do the corresponding quest objectives, which Wrathion will then give you a Horrific Core or a Voidbound Core, depending on your cloak level, to level up your cloak.

That’s what I tried to do. I entered where the boss was and was immediately dead. Didn’t even get near the target. This is totally stupid. and in response to all the snark, yes, I had the idiot cloak on.

This just… doesn’t make sense.
Even at 5 masks, Alleria doesn’t 1 shot people.
lol yes, the design is that you keep beating your head against the wall repeatedly, and it starts to hurt a bit less after a while.
D-Did you stand in the fire and ignore mechanics? Did you really just not play well and that’s why it happened?
How much sanity did you have left at the time?
I’m confused as to how that could’ve happened unless you were unaware of an attack that drained all of your sanity in one go, or an attack that is meant to be an instant kill if you fail to respond appropriately.
Alleria has both.
The only way to die instantly without engaging Alleria would be if you ran out of sanity before engaging her. For that to be possible, you’d have had to waste a lot of time on the trash mobs in the area and/or ignored the abilities those mobs have that drain sanity.

There’s no way you died like that unless you had 0 sanity , but your sanity shouldn’t be that low because you went straight for the boss. Unless you just hit like a wet noodle and sat there and let her hit you with all her sanity draining stuff which isn’t much unless she has the buffs from u killing al the other bosses. Horrific visions is not hard and it becomes literal face roll when you get the upgrades
