…in high level delve tiers?
I’ve been trying to do delves on my 643 Fel Scarred VDH but sometimes I am struggling to outheal massive spikes of incoming damage even after pressing all my CDs. I also press Fiery Brand and Fracture on CD.
I am at a loss because tbh I had an easier time on BDK at the same ilvl and in the same delve tiers.
Any and all advice are appreciated. Thank you.
i mean its hard to really help without much info,
are you using your souls effectively? actively use defensives? are you using damaging abilities properly like soul cleave? cause vdh is a leach tank, you do big dam you do big heal

idk about effectively, but I use Fracture on CD then use Soul Cleave or Spirit Bomb based on how much healing I need or how many mobs I’m facing. I am also using Fel Devastation, Fiery Brand and Demon Spike on CD.
I use Sigil of Spite on big packs and The Hunt and Meta when I need the extra armor or healing.
I’m using the WoWhead talent build for delves.
For more context, I’m talking about T11 delves. I was able to complete an Immortal Spelunker ES9, but that’s only because I put Brann on healer instead of the more efficient DPS.
i mean you should be using sigil of spite on cd, cause it generates alot of souls
the hunt and meta on cd as well, pull around your meta. pull big and slam meta and burst everything down with felscar
you should always be using spirit bomb at 4-5 souls when not in demon form, and att 3 when at demon form
then spam soul cleave to fury dump. everything hit by spb and soulcleave does reduced damage to you and you heal based on damage done to them based on stacks
soul cleave and spb are your spenders and frankly should be used as much as you possibly can
you also should be using sigil of flame on cd, immo aura on cd, because they also generate souls and do large amounts of damage and therefor healing.
i would use brann on healer mode always, get dinosaur and bloprint powers.
again i cant really help you beyond telling you to make sure your using everything on cd. i highly sugfgest reading the wowhead guide for any rotational questions :shrug: you shouldnt be having much issues on delve 11 as a tank. or i might be holding you to my standard which admitdly is high

I think my main problem was that I didn’t know when to use which. So my priority should be Spirit Bomb, got it.
I have played every tank in T11 except VDH (until a few hours ago) and Brewmaster Monk and I have always used him as DPS. I guess I have it in my head that if I play tank, I should be using Brann as DPS lol.
I know that as well, that’s why I’m trying to see if there’s something I’m doing wrong - which appears to be not using everything on CD and not knowing the difference between Soul Cleave and Spirit Bomb.
In my defence though, as a few hours old baby VDH, I consider it quite a feat that I managed to get Immortal Spelunker at 631.

basically ya, use spb when you have 4 souls and then spam sc for dump fury
i mean you can keep him on dps, it doesnt really matter. i just find him being healer more of a qol thing than anything since he does low damage anyways unless you use dino and bluprint
if you feel like you need more help, i highily suggest learning how to log and post said log here so i can review
I run with brann as dps and really don’t have issues in most 11 delves. Literally just putting everything on cooldown and it’s not really an issue. I can’t even imagine what you might be doing wrong. But maybe also just try healer brann, it’ll be a bit longer…
I listened to the other guy’s advice and also went to read up the rotation.
Turns out I’m not supposed to be holding on to Meta for when I’m doing an extra big pull or for when s*** hits the fan.
For tanks, I usually play Prot Pally, Guardian Druid and Blood DK so how VDH plays is completely new to me. Getting used to it now though.
Healer Brann was a lifesaver - literally.
ye vdh is like bdk
its a tank that gets more tanky with how much damage you do. granted all the tanks are like that but vdh has more empathsis with it with stuff like soul crush and every defensive doign some form of damage
Play AR. FS is dead this season.

ar defensive factor comes from souls being utlized properly.
you dont have to play meta for delves
fel-scarred is completely viable and actually MORE damage than AR. It just requires more healing than AR and in delve content who cares. I’d rather burst everything down and move on.
“viable” doesn’t mean you should. To workplace, you can either walk on foot or drive a car, both are “viable” options.
yet felscarred is 1-2 keys behind reaver in content that op or anyone in this thread will see or interact with
not to mention felscarred is still stronger for the content op is doing.

That’s also the gap between the best tank clads and the worst tank class. Players hit the bottleneck, 1-2 key difference is a huge gap.
Wrong. OP is struggling with survivability and you recommend him the squishier option. Smart.
Kinda surprised you are struggling as you are with a Vengeance DH. It was around ilvl 630’s that i tanked at Delves 11. It took a damn long while cause they are not crazy on damage but pretty beefy. I took big damage but managed to farm up good gear just by doing level 11 delves. The only thing i dread doing delves is when i unexpectedly get that one Demo dome boss as a random encounter. he tore me apart. After reaching 650’s ilvl, it became cake walk, even the Demo dome boss, however i get bored and tire easy cause damage was still meh. I get through it faster but not quick enough until i decided to switch DPS and i destroy Delve 11 at record speed.

If you are struggling in delves then the issue isn’t that your not running the meta hero tree (even tho both are within margin)
It’s a fundamental rotational issue
And I was right cause op gave a update and said he’s having a much more easier time in delves now
Again if you’re not going to be helpful and instead suggest bandage fixes that will probably be removed in 11.2. Then you need to head out
Yeah, he’s struggling in delves and you suggest him to play a squishier spec, while I was telling him to play the tankier spec. You are very helpful and I am not. Awesome.

You’re not helping him learn the fundamentals of the spec. If he doesnt have the fundamentals down, then he’ll do worse with reaver cause reaver doubles down on the fundamental of soul generation and spending
If you don’t know how to play vdh then kindly leave
Even if he did everything wrong, he would still be tankier as AR than FS thank to the shield from souls.
