How to Opt Out of Raider IO/Armory

TL;DR - Disable sharing of game data in your Blizzard account privacy settings area.

Edit to clarify it’s technically a “disable” not an enable.

Even if Raider IO didn’t exist you can look up someone on the Armory and determine what dungeons they have timed (pretty much key x 10, summed over all dungeons timed is IO score). It’s simply more convenient to be able to do that by hovering over the applicant’s portrait in-game rather than having to alt-tab to Blizzard’s WoW site and search on their name (which may have accent characters) and do some easy math.

Those calling for a ban on Raider IO have some false hope that it will increase their chances of getting into a group. It’s a false hope… I remember in Cataclysm being asked to go to the Cathedral steps while a raid leader inspected my character’s gear (item level, enchants, gems); I remember in Mists when people would put “Checking Armory” in their LFG listings. IO just makes this kinds of vetting convenient and doesn’t provide anything that group leaders can’t already get off the Armory with some added steps (alt-tab, quick math).

As an experiment, I had a friend change his privacy settings in his Blizzard account settings and sure enough his progress on the Armory and in Raider IO was frozen although my combat logs still showed his performance (so you can’t hide from raid loggers). Even though we pushed keys to higher levels, my score improved while his stayed flat. So, Blizzard already provides a way to opt out of Raider IO/Armory; just disable sharing game data in your privacy settings.

If you do opt out, good luck ever getting into a M+ but if that’s what you want, then build up your IO score through steady progression of keys across all dungeons. It’s unrealistic to clear 3 or 4 keys at +5 and then expect to be able to get into +10 groups; clear all 8 dungeons at +5/+6 and then move up to all of them at +7/+8. Same principle applies for getting into +15 groups.

Also, consider that the Armory is Blizzard’s site… it is incredibly unlikely that they will take it down, so there will always be a way to vet players on their gear and what progress they’ve made in dungeons, raids, and rated PvP; unless you want to opt out via privacy settings.

Great idea…if you want to get turned down for having no io

I’m not sure what benefit this would give you

Something something boycott something evil something

RIO isn’t the problem. It’s the solution for players to clear content with out jumping through hoops. If players hide progress they will still get declined. I would never take someone who had hidden achieves or profile… That just means they are a whiney, insecure, toxic individual that has no business in a group.

Neither would I, thus why I said “If you do opt out, good luck ever getting into a M+” but for those that want to bury their head in the sand or somehow think being scored is invasive, this is for them (and M+ is not for them).

I don’t think the score is that big of a problem. I don’t see the problem with people wanting to make sure you’re appropriately geared/experienced for the content. The meta, on the other hand, yeah that I can understand. It’s hard getting invites to 15+ keys if you aren’t a meta class but luckily I have my guild for that.

meta is just a term for best at the time. There will always be a meta no matter what. Not possible to create 100% perfect parity with all of the classes, races, and specs.

It is possible…but it would be really really horribly boring and probably kill the game

None. As it should be.

People have a right to know who they’re inviting, in fact I wish raider IO had MORE information. I want the Blizzard API to start tracking whether you finish a key you start. If you leave the group for any reason, that should show in your record.

And, before you bother, I don’t care about your excuses. If your baby climbs into your oven somehow and you have to run, 1 notch on your tree isn’t going to stop anyone reasonable from inviting you. If your baby loves that oven and climbs in every other night, then you shouldn’t be joining keys.

Sounds like projection. You’re actually the one being toxic and whining.

Why the heck you necro this random thread about a problem that Blizz already solved? :stuck_out_tongue:

Good luck getting into 15s with only timed 13s/14s. You are competing with 2300+ io players who are trying to get a specific piece of gear or something in the vault. My advice would be that if you want to do 15s, use your own key first. In general, if you want to get into a higher level, use your own key. Prove yourself at your own risk (by using your own key) and then other people will want you in their groups at those levels after you’ve proven yourself enough.

Genuinely I have been away and this is the top topic that came up when I searched the subject. Threads will always be necro’d until Blizzard makes a better forum. People search, find a thread and contribute to it.

How has this problem been solved?

They added it to the game as a core feature, solved with sledge hammer to the haters.

More like a sledge hammer to their stock value. Bad game design choices are why they’ve lost over 3 million players and their stock has plummeted. I think you’ll see bad design being undone now that the company has been bought out.

I’m right there with ya, I think I’ve posted 2 rants about the M+ system this morning. I think they should do more with it and support more play styles with it. They could have really made WoW dungeons something to be treasured and respected, that people love to play. We’re pushed into these tiny little lanes of playing very specific static mods at a fixed difficulty level that is spongy enough to be annoying to basically everyone at every skill and gear level. 30 minute dungeons suck, no one wanna play that crap. The most fun you can have in M+ is pushing the timer as low as possible in low keys, but doing that gives you nothing after a few days, and you can’t play low keys with the modifiers. My dream dungeon would be like +3 with 8 mods, I want squishy mobs with avoidable damage that hurts like hell, but this don’t exist.
