I’m trying to silence the intensely grating sound effects for the V.I.G.O.R. trinket, since the devs haven’t responded to several tweets, in-game feedback reports and WoWhead comments bemoaning its obnoxiousness since BoD’s release. I refuse to listen to this thing for an entire raid tier.
I already have all the sound file names, I just need to know how to replace them. I found this old thread about muting sounds, but I can’t seem to get this method to work. I tried creating both “Spell” and “Spells” folders in the Sound folder in the World of Warcraft directory, and moving the empty .ogg files into them, but that didn’t work.
Any ideas?
Anything that was \World of Warcraft\ becomes \World of Warcraft\_retail_\
Yeah, unfortunately I also tried creating a Sound\Spell folder with the empty .ogg files in the retail folder, and that didn’t work either.
What’s the full path you were using?
World of Warcraft\_retail_\Sound\Spell
Though I tried World of Warcraft\Sound\Spell first, because that Sound folder exists already in the main directory.
best guess is you have the file name wrong but I’m not seeing the names in the comments for the trinket or the sound pages for it on WH and I don’t feel like figuring it out via CASC.
It’s got several attached sound files, including:
So for the first one, the file name I’m using is Spell_Trinket_V.I.G.O.R._Energy
Is that not the right syntax/label?
Probably not but without looking through casc I couldn’t confirm. When wow switched over to soudkit ids wowhead changed their links to use them rather than the file names so they’re not easy to pull anymore.
In that case, how might I go through to find it myself?
