Preface: i’m a super casual, mostly alliance player, who started in vanilla. havent done much raiding as current content nor pvp, so i wont be touching on that aspect of the game.
How to make wow great again? well lets start with the foundation - et. al, casual and entry level environments. Observe:
GAME SIZE
Wow really should be three games (vanilla-wotlk, cata-wod, legion-shadowlands. all three games should start at level 1, go to 80 and re-establish the professions). its much too big now, even with level squish. its so big, it erases the reason to do anything but endgame, and that negatively impacts everything profession related and makes casual play perplexing and meaningless. put dev teams on each game and have them develop new content for that game. not expacs.
PROFESSIONS
Professions have been decimated by 3 things: heirlooms, reward loot bags for random LFG dungeon completes and the size of the game.
HEIRLOOMS
heirlooms: they remove the need to buy and upgrade gear, thus negatively impacting blacksmithing, tailoring, leatherworking and jewelry crafting. this also impacts other professions who provide resources for those activities, such as herbalists, alchemists, miners and skinners. heirlooms need to go.
LOOT BAGS
reward loot satchels: they double down on the damage done by heirlooms. if they must be in the game, they should be rare drops from random dungeon mobs, similar to getting a blue drop. this will re-incentivize dungeon re-que-ing.
NEW PROFESSIONS
player housing and architect. 'nuff said.
CUSTOMIZATIONS
I mean, how hard is it to turn on red eyes for belfs, beards for trolls and undead, more hairstyles for velfs, more poc hairstyles, etc ? this is such an easy way to make customers happy, its weird we dont already have tons of new customizations. /tries to peek over the wall…whats going on over there?
