So I’ve played wow since the start of burning crusade and quit towards the end of battle for azeroth because I didn’t like the direction the game seemed to be heading however i recently came back because a friend of mine wanted to play the game.
I’ve been really enjoying the new leveling system, being able to go to any zone or expansion you want to experience is a really good step in the right direction in my opinion because wow has always had a bad problem with not utilizing older content which blizzard has tried to fix many times in many different ways but I think a much better approach that would bring back a lot of people and many new players would be to separate retail into two different servers sort of similar to classic wow and classic season of mastery.
There should be an alternate server to retail that has content from every expansion besides the current expansion and when that expansion finishes and the next one comes the old expansions content moves to this alternate server, I think wow can be both a very good theme park mmo but also a very good sandbox and I think we can have the best of both worlds by separating the two instead of attempting to mish mash them into one.
This new server should focus completely on scaling every expansions and zones content exactly to the players level besides dungeons and raids, then make every raid and heroic versions of every dungeon in the game max level content which all have similar item level gear (raids being higher)
I also believe with a system like this there should be no cash shop, heirlooms and no mount, pet, achievement sharing between characters and you should not be able to transfer characters between these two game types and this will actually make blizzard more money than adding these things to this new server.
Could you imagine being able to go to any zone and redo the quest lines for the factions you love to get something meaningful for your character or being able to choose any of the raids or dungeons you enjoy the most to do as max level content? You could even scale professions this way.
I think for me and a lot of other players this is a game play formula that will keep people playing for years to come.
You might say this would be impossible to balance but it really does not need to be perfectly balanced we’ve been shown blizzard can scale content and item levels well enough that this would definitely be possible with some things needing tuning down, limiting or disabling (artifact weapons, tier sets, etc)
You might also say blizzard would never do this because it would lose them money, I think it will make them more money than they could imagine.
Having normal retail still retain the cash shop and retail being the only place that has the latest expansion means everyone who joins this new game type will more than likely also buy into the new expansions and thats going to be a lot more people than without it, you could even convince people to sign up for the new expansion by adding limited time cosmetics for the new server by purchasing or earning things in the latest expansion.
Sorry for my horrible 2:00 am grammar and ranting but I really wanted to see what other people thought about this, I like many other people love wow and I want it to be the best it can be.
How will blizzard make more money if they take away the features people like?
Why would I want to repeat Hellfire Peninsula again? Pretty sure I’ve done it at least 30 times. It was a favorite of mine, but even favorites have worn out their welcome.
They won’t be taking away any features if they do this like I said this would be on a new server retail would keep everything it currently has, they would make more money because I think this server would bring in a lot of new players who would buy a sub and more than likely buy into the latest expansion.
You wouldn’t HAVE to do hellfire over again the point is each zone would scale with you so you could do any zone you would like.
We already have that scaling. There are way fewer new players than you think there are. And without the meat of expansions, which only happened in end content and has since been removed, and background that was never presented in the game, leveling quests would be as pointless as they are now.
There would never be enough new levelers to cover the cost of developing and maintaining a new set of servers.
What would be amazing is the announcement of a new expack … SL dosent feel like wow to me… dosent even have any boats … im gonna wait till 10.0 not gonna bother with SL anymore
the only way WoW can be “amazing” again, is if it had Devs who listen to constructive feedback, rather than what the shameless ██████████ yes-men tell them. it would also help if they’ve had prior experience in game design as well.
I think a new server like this would bring in enough new players to justify it and I don’t really think we have scaling currently comparable to what it would be.
every raid, dungeon and faction that isn’t current content most players would never have any reason to do besides cosmetics and having to obtain those and gear while difficulty scales with you will make everything a lot more meaningful especially if they’re not shared between characters whenever i start a new character its disappointing there’s no point in trying to obtain new toys, mounts and pets because they’re shared between characters.
- Stop gating.
Done. That’s it. Wow is saved.
Dividing the player base even more is the worst thing they can do to the game.
