I have the blue robe, hat, and mixing rod.
I have filled 30 Phial Mastery, 25 Phial Lore, and 20 Batch Production
I also have 29/50 in Alchemical Theory
Alch skill is 98/100
All gold mats
Yet my skill for Phial of Elemental Chaos is only 322 and the Recipe Difficulty says I need 450. Wow, I’m far off! What am I missing?
It’s not about skill, It’s about luck.
Inspiration gives 140 skill for me currently. Was assuming the same thing with glacial furry phials and found out the hard way I wasted a lot knowledge chasing skill I can’t use. But there’s no way to guarantee a R3 craft. And since I get 140 skill from an inspiration I can just make them with mostly rank 1 mats. if it’s an inspired craft I get a R3, if not a R2.
Higher skill is always useful. Even if you have to hit Inspiration to get r3, the higher your skill is the more you can save on mats. But yes point for point Inspiration is currently more valuable.
Too a point and while leveling.
For glacial fury You need 400, Maxing everything gets me to 380-390. So with 140 skill from an inspiration there’s a 130 points of overkill.
Even with rank one herbs and rank 3 vials ,which are cheap, I have about 15 points of over kill. But that doesn’t really matter, I can’t even farm rank one herbs and currently they’re the same price or cost more than rank 2 herbs.
So you’re pretty much using rank 2 herbs and that gives me 50 points of over kill with the 140 bonus skill from inspiration.
But here’s the kicker.
At current market prices
Writhebrak R2 is 83x5 = 415
Bubble poppy R2 is 44x10 = 440
Awakend frost is 87 = 87
Vials R1 5x2 = 10
For a total of 952g
Makes 2
And currently R2 Phials are selling for 286 for 2
And currently R3 Phials are selling for 1628 for 2
So 10 crafts with with my current 20% inspiration will cost 9520g
And yield (8 * 286) + (2 * 1628) or 5544g gold worth of phials.
Now I currently have 0 pts in inspiring ambience. But maxed out it looks like I’ll get additional 45% more skill on an inspiration. So another 60 pts of over kill for a total of 110 points of over kill with R2 herbs.
Now If it also gets me to around 50% inspiration chance then the yield would be (5 * 286) + (5 * 1628) 9570g which is right at the cost. ( interesting that the market found that price. )
Which means you’re only making money on multi crafts that also happen to be inspired.
So it’s about the luck, most of the knowledge spent on skill is a waste.
totally agree too much skill points is not optimal.
the phial market situation represents most intermediate materials economics, you only make gold on multicraft and resourcefulness.
