No modern Horde story exist without the alliance being involved. When they focus on Thrall and Baine they will ALWAYS show Anduin and Jaina first otherwise the alliance kids will cry like no tomorrow whenever they feel they don’t get ALL the attention all the time.
Yes. And that needs to stop.
Of those three, only Thrall’s return to Nagrand really stands out and I’ll grant you that one singular example.
The other two? The Hand of Vengeance’s story ends with the Battle for Undercity, which is very much a “both factions” event
The Taunka? Not iconic. They’re an interesting subrace to be sure, but nothing about you meeting them and helping their chieftan fight undead Nerubians is iconic.
It was back in the day.
Yeah no. I was there. Take a look at my achievement dates for the Wrathgate questline if you don’t believe me. Nobody really cared all that much about the Taunka questlines. The Taunka themselves were cool, but their story was a very basic “Hey look a relative of one of our races” thing.
Okay, so what were the iconic Horde stories, 16 years ago?
Fair, but both undercity and teldrassil got destroyed, one for each side.
If silvermoon becomes an actual neutral city the horde better be getting access to an alliance city (a real one, not a pretend one with no AH or transmog like Amirdrassil) too.
It’s more likely a new city will be built, my guess is the isle of QuelDanas near the sunwell.
Makes it worse they still couldn’t recover their main town of Icemist and are reduced to two villages at this point.
There were none. We had plenty alliance stuff from the Onyxia questline to Varians story in the comics and Bolvar becoming the new lich king. The Horde exists to be a backdrop villain when old gods or demons aren’t avaiable.
Garrosh’s storyline, which begins in Nagrand and heads towards a faction war during the leadup to Cataclysm. Heavily features the Alliance
The Wrathgate fiasco and resulting Battle of Undercity, which heavily features the Alliance.
The Sunwell storyline… that ended with Velen, an Alliance character, using the heart of a naaru to purify the sunwell.
Unlike the alliance, the Horde lacked an overarching Stormwind conspiracy style questline in Vanilla. Going further back into WC3, the Orcish horde is, again, defined by their interactions with the Alliance. Putting aside their differences to ally with them in ROC, before having to fight off a rogue element of it lead by Daelin in TfT.
Horde is defined by its contrast with the Alliance. It always has been. Even iconic internal moments Cairne vs Garrosh have the Alliance looming over everything as a figure of opposition.
We know you like the green baby no need to front
The only Greenskins I like are female Goblins, shortstacks are life.
Well my other orcs a Mah’gar so you just let me know sweet pea
We already do, they’re called Blood Elves and Nightborne.
This is the issue. It’s insane to think there is an entire faction of “good guys”. The factions are huge. And for there to be only good guys on the alliance for 20 years or for every single negative thing they do to get handwaved as “corruption lol” is terrible writing.
Thing is, the vanilla era had some genuinely shady alliance behavior. Alterac Valley is straight up the dwarves just invading where the frostwolves live for no justifiable reason with Alliance support and they’ve done much the same in the barrens as well.
And while Onyxia definitely agitated things, the Defias Brotherhood’s grievances weren’t even close to being entirely her fault.
Big talk for a class that tosses sticks at you as fantasy.
It’s not so much tossing as it is violently propelling towards my victims.
I just teasin
