How to make targets appear as dot in minimap

When I targeted an NPC they used to show up as a dot in my minimap and also the mark you put on them showed up in the minimap. At some point that disappeared and I can’t figure out how to get it back. Any suggestions? (They show up if I click on them with the mouse, but I want them to show up on the minimap when I use /tar or put an “X” on them )

I think they removed this feature while in combat for w/e reason. Don’t quote me on that, though.

How do I find NPCs in a crowded area, then? Just keep running around in circles?

It should still be an option in the tracking menu, I think. Been a while since I messed with that, though.

If not, try this:
/console minimapTrackingShowAll 1

You can also keybind a raid icon and just press that when you have an NPC you want to find targeted.

That seems makes them show up when I target them with the mouse, but I was trying just to target them with the target command or put a mark on them so I can find them in the minimap.

hmm

" /tar thief " targets Thief Catcher Farmountain in Ironforge, so I’m not sure what problem you’re having. I have the skull marker bound to num pad 7, and pressing that puts the symbol over his head too.

After targeting them, put them on focus. That should put a marker on mini map.

Dots, more dots

I can get the green dot to show up on minimap but not the mark, that worked so I found the guy

Oh, sorry. Raid markers don’t show on the minimap. Didn’t mean to confuse you.

I’m in the obsidian throne and there are lots of levels with map symbols stacked on top of one another, I think that may have been the main problem.
