Can you guys brainstorm ideas on how players create more friends? Like certain content or environments that would promote/encourage players making friends.

Goodluck. 99% of the player base doesn’t even respond to messages or chat.
Buy them with gold.
Be aggressively friendly. Add those people from your pug and invite them to something else. It’s actually a lot easier to make friends in game than in real life because you’re already doing leisure activities together.

PvP is a pretty good place to go for this. It’s unmitigated by what’s happened to the PvE space.
Share your love of eating cloves of raw garlic by consuming them in tight areas with your new friends.

It’s pretty simple, just socialize. Over time technology has caused people to not keep their social skills in check. Sort of like lifting weights or exercise, it’s much harder when you don’t do anything for years on end. These days due to high anxiety, it may come off as people not caring about what you have to say, but it’s likely they’re just scared anything they say will cause them to be judged. So you’ve gotta initiate, be a little more upfront about wanting to be friends or easing people into it. Join the guild Discords, don’t be afraid to speak up and keep trying even if the reception isn’t as comfortable at first. These days to make friends, you’ve gotta put yourself out there.

People aren’t social in dungeons anymore. Join a guild, a community, or even a chat channel and start talking to people. Find a WoW discord and be social, even a WoW facebook group. Join an RP server and mingle with people.
So say more than hello. Say something relevant. Try to bond, rather than shoot a shot and expect someone to just take the lead for you.

I’m pretty selective w/ friends. But generally for me if they perform well in dungeon and I see myself inviting them again to a pug group I just whisper them after the run say good job and mind if I add you for future runs. The team I run with here just originally pugs that we’ve decided to get together and just run permanently on our mains
You may not like this answer, but 99% of my friends list over the year, and its a lot, is from being a good tank in leveling dungeons
This isnt sarcasm, if you make a tank, spam dungeom finder, and other leveling folks feel like youre moving at a speed that they feel is complimenting their time and speed, you’ll get multiple friend invites a day across mamy realms. The best part is when its your turn to make a non tank alt, some of those new friends might be leveling a tank amd bring yiu alomg for super fast leveling.
