Its very simple actually. Since in SL we can use 2h, make a glyph to allow WW to change to a Blademaster/Samurai. Would need 2h swords included for WW monk. No change to the damage numbers.
Basically, change all the attack animations to use weapon swings. Luckily for devs they dont have to create new animations. They can borrow it from other classes.
⦁ Auto attack will be the same time interval, but a weapon swing. same applies to Tiger palm
⦁ For fist of fury, they can use the animation of Survival Hunter Artifact ability from Legion expansion.
⦁ Black out strike animation already exists with BRM. But that is being changed to kick in SL… why bliz??
⦁ Rising sun kick can use mongoose bite animation
⦁ Spinning Crane kick can use Bladestorm animation
⦁ Mirror image is already there in Storm earth and fire
⦁ if this talent is taken, Fist of the white tiger animation can be the new DK Obliterate
⦁ Whirling Dragon Punch can use Whirlwind from warrior (after this change we can move when we use WDP. Hurray!)
⦁ Wind Walk. personally i dont care about inivisibilty. Monk’s DPS is called WW and I am fine with it.
Above suggestions apply for 2h weapons. DW weapons can burrow animations from Enh shaman, DW frost DK, SMF warriors.
I have seen a lot of players talk about wanting to use the weapons they equip rather than having them as a stat stick. And every “new class” thread mentions the Blademaster. I confess, my favorite class is Blademaster too. I think this change will make a lot of players happy and make monk more popular than now. For those who don’t like this, its a glyph. Its an option. You don’t have to take it.
So your fix is to “'A battle-hardened master of weapons, using mobility and overpowering attacks to strike her opponents down. Preferred Weapon: Two-Handed Axe, Mace, Sword”.
But blizzard already has that class.
Not sure how turning us into the Jade class color of warrior would change anything.
Not sure how a full plate armor knight with a 2h weapon is any different then a full plate armor samurai with a 2h weapon…

Chivalry / Bushido
Both wore plate armor
Full plate and chainmail / Lamellar iron plate and chainmail
Both used 2h weapons
Great sword / katana
Both are based on a feudal system
Knights and peasants / Samurai and bushiman
It needs more magnetism. It’s really missing a wow factor. For me, the class fantasy is kinda meh. It’s not edgy like Shadow, Lock, Dh or DK. Nor is it flashy with georgeous spell animations and badass transmogs like Shamans or Druids. It’s not even a top tier class in terms of performance over multiple game types.
I’m not sure what exactly it needs but my guess is it needs to be more visually stunning. People need to see one being played out in the wild and think “Wow, that looks amazing, I gotta try that”.
Honestly, I feel like we need more exciting/triggering/flashy abilities.
Imagine if SotWL made a come back and it’s animation was improved. Say in addition to what it was there was the addition of a massive player model sized blast of wind animation. Like the Falstad ult from HotS.
Or if WDP got an animation update and we got an echo of an astral cloud serpent model fly up with it. Similar to that one time Goku dragon fisted some forgettable monster in one of the DBZ movies.
Or if FoF was further augmented in PvP to allow us to juggle who we hit and let us move them for the duration of the channel. Or just plain add the shooty wind ghost animation it had in Legion back.
Hell, I’m still hoping that we get WC3 Windwalk as a spell in the future. A vanish that gives you mount speed and ensures your first ability out of stealth is a really big crit (which is kinda what rogue leggo shoulders were based around now that I think of it).
An easy out I can think of is just un-nerfing our AoE kit, and I ain’t referring to the target cap coming in SL. I’m talking about FoF cleave getting cut in half, and SCK MotC stacks getting capped and the damage buff getting nerfed by 75%-80% based on which patch iteration we’re going from.
this is why i keep bringing up that monks are the only class the DIDNT get a visual update.
in the visuals alone we could be made a more interesting and popular class. it works for DHs, there gameplay is literally atrociously bad and boring, but visually they are interesting to watch/look at.
you look at ANY other game on the market with monks in it and they are all a visual feast to look at. and then you look at us over here in wowland and theres just nothing going on. on top of blizz for … whatever reason… turning us into a summoner archetype and we summon a bunch of minions to do our job for us when we are supposed to be this unmatched hand to hand brawler martial artist. blizzs concept to design is wayyyyyyyyy off for us.
offtopic: i cannot wait for the western release of lost ark. ive been waiting over 2 years for it.
I 100% agree we are the unmatched HAND TO HAND brawler martial arts. Sadly a lot of people keep trying to turn us into green character color warriors/rogues.
If blizzard would give monks this updated hand to hand only animations with really impressive chi finishers, I think our martial arts identity would finally be solidified. We are the kicking and punching chi class. Not the golf club swinging poor mans warrior.
Think combos like Tiger Palm, RSK, BK, FoF all build up chi now. Then we unleash a massive Hadoken that channels like eye beam does but its our chi burst animation.
Ya, I hear you. What you just said makes me think of Naruto, moulding Chakra into impressive bursts of energy. That’s what we should be about and it doesn’t feel anywhere near as cool as it could be
This is most likely a minority view on updated animations. I quite enjoy a class that is somewhat subdued. Even the spin kick animation that Blizzard is forcing on Brew masters is cringe to me. I like playing a more bulky race that relies on the swing of his staff and greater use of his fists over fancy kicks that feels out of place for a brew master.
