In order to heal you need to manually set up a bunch of macros. Especially hover over macros, due to displeasurable amounts of mouse clicking. Not to mention healing addons. So the overall mental investment to heal is excessive, compared to dps. This is a large part of the reason this game suffers from massive healer shortage, which is also the most common complaint everyone has. It’s also the reason dps class wait 30 minutes to play one match of solo shuffle.
Just making a toggle that enables hover over for all healing spells is a massive leap to getting more normies to get into healing without learning all about macros and addons and such. Most people just want to play a fun game after work, they don’t want to study programming just to play a game.
Emphasize enjoyable talents like this more. Make more in the same light. Topping up green boxes is awfully boring - let’s move away from that and into more cool heroic action like a true life saving class should be doing: I’m thinking more cool immunities like bop maybe one that sends you up to God for a bit free from danger and more augmentation like talents one that makes your teammate stronger than the one shot enh shamans for a few seconds. Or even maybe yourself you do a life sacrifice to do a big dps blow to the enemy. Idk. Let’s get creative.
I heal on 5 of my toons and don’t use any macros or addons for healing. Just because you choose to do something because it feels easier for you doesn’t mean it is necessary.
if you want brain dead easy, you go for resto druid. but seriously, healing is about refilling health bars, if you don’t like that, then you aren’t gonna like healing.
people don’t like playing them when dps is an easier, more enjoyable, and less stressful option. nothing is going to change that short of making a dps have healing (or tanking!) as a side effect on their dps spells so that they never have to stop dpsing or even look at another health bar…
Hard to tell lol. But before it devolves, if we’re both joking, we’re both fine. (Some folks unironically think it’s the furry class, so it’s popular.)
Jokes aside, I think druid has been Top 2 most popular class since TBC? I know it’s been that way since (at least) Cata, but my memory is shot. So, a popular class, with a limited role, and offers a lot of variety in gameplay. Recipe for success.
