How to make healer classes more fun and more beginner friendly

In order to heal you need to manually set up a bunch of macros. Especially hover over macros, due to displeasurable amounts of mouse clicking. Not to mention healing addons. So the overall mental investment to heal is excessive, compared to dps. This is a large part of the reason this game suffers from massive healer shortage, which is also the most common complaint everyone has. It’s also the reason dps class wait 30 minutes to play one match of solo shuffle.

Just making a toggle that enables hover over for all healing spells is a massive leap to getting more normies to get into healing without learning all about macros and addons and such. Most people just want to play a fun game after work, they don’t want to study programming just to play a game.

Also the most fun moments as a healer is when you do something heroic to save your friend’s life like this incredible grip here: https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/kg6a8v/the_best_play_ive_ever_seen_i_was_in_shock/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Emphasize enjoyable talents like this more. Make more in the same light. Topping up green boxes is awfully boring - let’s move away from that and into more cool heroic action like a true life saving class should be doing: I’m thinking more cool immunities like bop maybe one that sends you up to God for a bit free from danger and more augmentation like talents one that makes your teammate stronger than the one shot enh shamans for a few seconds. Or even maybe yourself you do a life sacrifice to do a big dps blow to the enemy. Idk. Let’s get creative.

Kinda why Evoker is a step in the right direction.

Way more comfortable to play with them than any other healer.

Evoker is probably one of the hardest healers to play well. :dracthyr_a1:

I mean…half of the healers are just annoying as :duck: to play lol. Disc, MW, Hpal, and shaman (to a lesser extent) are not fun or cool.

There is a reason why RDruid is often the 1st or 2nd most played healer regardless of it’s power.

If all healer’s are relatively close in viability like in DF S1, Rdruid is always number 1 in representation.

ITT: Make tanking easier by taking all the complexity out of it.

I heal on 5 of my toons and don’t use any macros or addons for healing. Just because you choose to do something because it feels easier for you doesn’t mean it is necessary.

They weren’t though. Druid and Pres Evok became the leads after the big healing changes.

Shaman on PTR before the change was going to be really good again. Then it became C tier

No, they kinda were lmao. Every healer had a comp they could perform well in. How far up you could go is a different topic.

Shaman was not C tier in season 1. What???

The reason is furries. /s

It’s meta spec is also very simple. But there’s a variety of playstyles, such as the Verdancy builds, and Swiftmend builds

You’re toxic smh :expressionless:

if you want brain dead easy, you go for resto druid. but seriously, healing is about refilling health bars, if you don’t like that, then you aren’t gonna like healing. :dracthyr_shrug:

people don’t like playing them when dps is an easier, more enjoyable, and less stressful option. nothing is going to change that short of making a dps have healing (or tanking!) as a side effect on their dps spells so that they never have to stop dpsing or even look at another health bar…

Lemme put a /s to make it more obvious for ya.

I was also joking. Jesus christ

Ye OPs argument is weird.

If it’s not refilling a players health is it even healing?

Hard to tell lol. But before it devolves, if we’re both joking, we’re both fine. (Some folks unironically think it’s the furry class, so it’s popular.)

Jokes aside, I think druid has been Top 2 most popular class since TBC? I know it’s been that way since (at least) Cata, but my memory is shot. So, a popular class, with a limited role, and offers a lot of variety in gameplay. Recipe for success.

Healers should just be able to hit their spells without targeting anyone and the spell will just heal the people who need it

I don’t know if that’s true

Please no.

Healing multiple people at once is fine.

The game prioritizing more hurt players or otherwise smart healing is really bad for the game.
