How to make gold in BFA?

I came back to farm WoW tokens for classic, and can’t figure out how to make a profit. Herbs/ores sell for almost nothing on my ah. Old world transmog drops take years to sell. Playing the game, doing dailies, running dungeons, doesn’t seem to really give anything at all. What can I do

There’s no great way to get gold at the moment. Currently I’m doing the herb/ore thing, as well as passively keeping an eye out for deals on the AH to repost. AH everything you can. Don’t vendor any gear, scrap everything and sell it. Also when the gold emissary pops up, make sure and do that on as many 120s as you have available to do it. Paragon boxes give about 4500 as well when you can get one.

Also keep an eye out for old mats that are selling well. In farming for mats to make a mechgineer’s chopper I ended up with hundreds upon hundreds or saronite ore. Didn’t sell instantly of course, but over a couple weeks it brought in 15k or so. And though it took a while, the chopper did end up selling for a 38k profit as well.

Just gotta be creative with it I guess… Or quit your real job and work the AH full time and make millions.

MoP and Cata raids can give you a few thousand per run. Playing the ah is tough since no one really crafts anything anymore, but frostweave bags net a decent profit if you farm the cloth yourself in Naxx and have an enchanter to get your infinite dust. People always buy bags. Deviate fish were selling for 25g per fish on my server last weekend, made an easy few thousand for an hour’s fishing.

A few thousand? Yeah I’m trying to get like 100k an hour.

The bright side is 100k an hour wasn’t a thing in Classic, and neither were tokens., so you get to enjoy the full classic experience by actually paying for the game!

To answer you though I think you should consider Herbalism and Alchemy or pick up two gathering and just put netflix on and go ham.

Sell your gathering mats. Youve got time. This js so bloody boring though. I do not envy.

Gathering professions, running old raids, selling mogs and rare pets.

And stay away of pugs, repair bills are crazy!

Depending on how quickly you need the tokens, 8.2 is coming out shortly and all the professions are getting a revamp.

Alchemy and enchanting are both looking decent with new flasks/pots and enchants. Inscription is getting new 400 ilvl trinkets which will sell decent for new characters, Blacksmithing, leatherworking, and tailoring are all getting 370 notorious gear which seems like they won’t sell due to Najatar dropping higher gear but people on new alts often buy the gear just so they don’t get trampled in the new areas.

Even the gathering profs are getting a new herb/ore/skin that will be the bottle neck for a lot of the new recipes and will likely sell fairly high the first month or so of the patch, specifically herbs/ores.

Be creative.
No magic answer.
Learn TSM, see what mats are cheap, if ores and herbs are dirt cheap, maybe look at what craftables use them, what do they sell for on your server and perhaps learn the profession to craft it.

You won’t just do something and BAM so much gold, nor is there a ‘‘lazy’’ way of doing it. Everything requires time, creativity, and patience.

I spent so many months oblivious that my TSM was showing me a profit but only being in the red 'cause of an incorrect mat string for that item used in the craft. Big face palm moment lol.

Don’t forget, if you are on a low pop, dead server, nothing you do will get you fast results…

Unless you buy the token with RL money, no farm, no method will get you 100k an hour.

With gold tokens being $20, there’s really no in game method that beats having even a minimum wage job where you get 10 hrs a week. I’d suggest doing something like that.

Even selling 10s, probably the most lucrative time-gold ratio without already having gold (to play AH), only nets you about 50k an hour.

They’d be better off just paying with a subscription at that rate but they want to pay with Gold, problem being, many like OP want Gold now and think it’s done at a snap of a finger.

If someone is set with a group, yeah it’s not 100k but definitely the next best thing as you mentioned. BTW I see you’re on area-52… God I hate that server when it comes to making Gold this expansion. :angry:

Here are things I do. Sometimes you will get lucky and sell something for 50k-200k.

  • Do old raids Mythic or Heroic if no Mythic. Vendor all the trash and gear too. Sell the BOEs on the AH as people still may want it for mogs.
  • Sell pets/mounts. Lots of pets in old raids too but not sure if they really sell for a lot anymore.
  • Get a gathering profession (herbalism is a good one and farm anchor weed)
  • Alchemist seems to be good still too as pots and flasks are still fairly expensive.
  • If you are a crafter like tailor for example.
  • Raid. Do normal and maybe you will get lucky and get a BOE which although 8.2 is around the corner, you still may sell it for 15-20k.
  • Farm LFR Jaina as if you get the mount that drops you can sell it for some good coin.

So, besides the lucky BOE or mount drops, the things I mentioned can be a decent weekly earnings. Not going to make you a millionaire but it will be good still. Those lucky drops will come.

Also next expansion you make bank on mats off the bat. I remember cloth and enchanting mats sell for a ton at the beginning of expansions. Especially like the first few weeks. So keep that in mind for the next expansion too.
