How to make friends/meet new people nowadays?

No, this isn’t a troll question; I’m being serious! I’m curious how does everyone make friends in game? It seems like if you don’t already have friends or a guild to run with, it’s difficult meeting new people.

All of my friends and guildies are either burned out or left the game, so I pug everything from M+s to raiding. It is not fun :expressionless:

And before anyone says, “Add the people you enjoyed running with!” I do.
I always add people that I enjoy running with or chatted with during the run. Only for them never talk to me again, or even better, when I post a key in group finder, they join my group and forget we’re “friends” and have ran before

It is that hard to befriend people in game now? Mostly venting, but hoping others can tell me the best way to go about meeting new friends or at least people to consistently run with.

I came back after a year break just a few days ago. Had no friends but decided to give the game a go again, for one month at least. Went on my Level 10 Twink Tank for some fast runs in early dungeons and after a few I met a player who was part of a Twink Community and out of it I got one added to my friends list thus far.

I cannot say which way can net you friends so to speak, but I find doing random dungeons early on is a good way as some players are new, and being a veteran you can help guide them even and thus start something from there. Of course that is just an idea. Not everyone wants to be friends, and some can even be a**holes at times, but on occasion, there are some willing to join ya and have a merry time.

I find it easier perhaps that at the start of every dungeon I “/yell” something or something that is me breaking the ice and not just waiting for others to start talking as some just remain quiet throughout the dungeon.

Anyways, I do hope you manage to find some people you can enjoy hanging out with.

You are so cute! And I think I have a friend for you, you might have a thing or two in common:

I am afraid not. Though I like her name lol.

Edit: I misread the post, aye, two ‘crazie’ gnomes taking on the world sounds like a hell of a time.

You just need to bribe people with the right kind of snacks to bond with them.

I’d say if you have alts or if you don’t think your guildies will return, start perusing the listed guilds in the menu and find a social guild that has a number of active users. I’m not sure if the communities work similarly, but if they do that might also be a good place to look as well.

Most of my friends are in guild or in a small discord or two of people who share similar interests.

I prefer my men with a little bit of muscle on them personally.

Well, a level 10 Tank can take on the same leveled (10) elite enemies with little to no problem as compared to a max level Tank taking on the same leveled (60) elite enemies.

Funny thing that be.

I think we have to be friends. It’s required. Me and my friend (who plays Crazie the adorable gnome) also have level 10 dungeon twinks.

Here’s my level 10 gnome healer now:

My friend’s arcane:

Blizzard removed the need to make friends and replaced it with menus.

I’m not one of those people that will say “classic was better!” but in that time frame (classic, TBC) you relied on people a lot more. People would be more inclined to say “man that was a great healer/tank/dps I’m going to remember their name.”

I think joining a Discord channel might be your best bet. It’s what I did in WoW and SWTOR.

Aye, I do agree with that as while yeah, the idea of soloing is not really a good idea back then, I did like that while you had to rely on others more, it did help push you to make allies along your journey.

Though that is just my opinion.

I solo elites all the time but okay.

I just wish there was a better term for that play than one used by LGBT+ culture.

They’re so well-geared and they’re only level 19.

Are they a dancing queen?

They were two years ago! Ah, what a fun time that was.

You can yes, but my main point is that a new level 10 character can take on enemies in a dungeon easier than that of a new max level character. Not to say it is not possible, but you would have an easier time as a level 10 going against the same leveled enemies in a dungeon compared to that of a max level character.

So, no skill required. Got it.

Not as much no, hence why I said “easier”.

Yeah, anyone can have fun with it! No skill required  You just have to get yourself set up with the right gear, gems, and class, and scaling makes things really fun.

Not my bag. I enjoy content that takes a modicum of skill, coordination, and teamwork.
