Feels bad on global cooldown and I it’s really my best guess when to use it for maximum effective. Any more experience bear lads have any pointers, weak auras or addon to help. Thanks
Its a HoT it shouldnt be on the GCD. When using it defensively as dps you have to wait for 2 gcs, its bad.
As feral, I find that I only really use it when I would have shifted into bear form anyway to mitigate some kind of damage effect that has been telegraphed. Bear form for the additional armor, then Frenzied Regen to heal off the damage that got through it.
I use it a lot while leveling/questing.
Now that you can use brutal slash in bear form, it’s quite useful for pulling big packs. You can bleed then up as cat and aoe them down in bear form while regen keeps you topped.
Not really useful In m+ or raids, since mobs typically aren’t attacking you, but it’s still a strong on demand heal. A bigger renewal on a shorter cd.
…at the very least, it does instantly heal you for 6% of your health [before modifiers] when you use it, but it still feels really awful to press.
as much as I would love for this, there would have to be some balance because as guardian, during berserk, it has 0 CD and is spammable.
You do know that spells off GCD often GCD themselves, right?
Like you can’t macro Fire Blast to cast twice. It’s no “suddenly more spammable” by taking it off the GCD.
All the defensive being on GCD feel horrible.
So it activating a GCD will in effect be a limit, but if its truly off GCD like ironfur is as requested you can end up macroing it to other abilities so you can hit it at the same time as other abilites with no penalty (or even without a macro). That would be OP during incarn/berserk.
I would love for it to be off GCD in exchange for a short CD like 6 seconds. I’m not opposed to the idea at all. I’d love for it to be off GCD absolutely.
As a dps it can be annoying sometimes. Taking a global to go bear, another to use it, 2-3 globals for it to take effect and then another global to shift back into form, it’s like 5-6 globals before you can start attacking again. Feels pretty mediocre by comparison compared to other classes.
I also dislike how well-honed instincts works in any form but if you shift, it cancels the entire thing. I’ve tried to go bear before it activated before and was like .5s late and just negated the entire thing. That feels stupid.
I kind of wish it could just be used in any form or at least persist once you already started it.
This is true, but it doesn’t account for big absorbs in raids, such as when a raid member is targeted with a split-damage mechanic and everyone else runs in to them to help split up the damage. I’m surprised how often I see Feral druids not go Bear Form in this situation…in my own guild, no less! This is an ideal time for a form shift, since you’re likely being pulled out of melee range anyway to help with the absorb. Once the absorb is done, on your way back to melee range, hit Frenzied Regen, then back to Cat Form!
