I play a BM hunter since BC and even though I did stop playing throughout WOW expansion hunter is always been a class I play. But since TWW I just can’t stand it. BM is so boring I actually felt asleep when raiding with my friend and someone in chat had to call me out to see wtf happen coz I walk right into a pool of lava and died.
Maybe is the rotation? the game play? the non existentment animation? IDK what’s wrong but I just felt really boring and not interested in playing my hunter anymore. I play it a bit in S1 and now in S2 I didn’t even bother doing the quest for free gear (the belt and the dinars). Heck I even do them on my FDK which I barely play…
Does anyone feels this way about BM hunter? It used to be fun but now is just boring and you can’t even tell you are good damage unless you use a damage meter coz there is literally zero ainimation to make BM interesting.
Except bm has always been this way, very few player animations and mostly passive animal procs. Hell in BC all you did as bm was use a one button macro to play the spec for you, all it did was cast steady shot and kill command, anything else was worthless. I feel like you’re describing every class, you can never tell if you’re doing good without a meter. That’s why they exist. Won’t know if you’re playing wrong without a log.
IDK maybe BM needs some updates. It feels ok in legion then I quit in BFA came back in SL and DF. Hunters feel ok in DF honestly it wasn’t like outstanding.
But TWW just feel boring heck even mage feels more fun with arcane you literally dash out a ton of arcane missile when you use your CD it feels good ot feels fun to press, same with fire mage when you use combustion it feels great. Ret pally you pop your wings and hammers it feels powerful even warrior does DH, druid but with BM you don’t get that feeling. BW is like you can almost keep up the buff constantly is not even like a big CD you press, it doesn’t feel good. Also the AoE relying your pets beast cleave seems like a bandaid fix.
Also when doing OW quest or delves pets seems to take a lot of damage. Should be this way my warlock fel guard can take a lot more punishment and I am already using a chefhood… I am only livl 639 on my hunter but for doing world quest it should be more than capable.
Use a clefthoof for solo content as ferocity for solo content. 639 you’ve probably barely scratched the surface for playing bm optimally. Don’t even know what talents you’re using.
I believe it’s the rotation. Every time it gets more interesting Blizzard reworks the spec abilities, and dumbs the rotation down.
It becomes more of just using Barbed Shot to refresh, waiting on KC, and watching BW to come off cooldown. You use Cobra Shot only if there’s nothing else to use.
There are so many other abilities like Dire Beast and Call of the Wild, but then the spec gets a change that then means you loose a button.
There’s different set up for playing, which are more interesting. However, the rotation for raids is pretty simple. Doing anything repeatedly can start to wear on a player. Have you tried the other specs?
I try pally both ret and Port, Warrior fury and Port, druid feral and guardian and a bit of bommy, DH VDH and HDH, Monk WW, FDK, mage arcane and frsot, warlock both demo and destro. All seem very fun to play kept me engage especially the melee spec. From dodging attacks, using your CC, stuns, while doing damage to playing other range class it feels great when you pop your CD a d do your rotation.
BM feels IDK there isn’t a high point I guess. Jair did LFR sure I did around 1.5m dps but I don’t feel good doing it there isn’t any high point. Is not like say when I play my arcane mage pop touch of the magi pop my CD and see a seriess or arcane missile it feels fun to play. Same with my ret pally or HDH once you use your CD you know you are doing awesome it feels engaging and feels great to dash out as michydanahe as possible, it feels great to keep the hammer rolling in my ret pally as long as I can. On my BM BW almost feels boring? Is like you can have up constantly there isn’t any major high point, sure a random Beast comes and you can see an eagle floating above your Head but I guess it feels BM is so automated there isn’t much you need to do. I also try MM and it feels fun to play even though I am bad at it and do less damage than BM but I had fun.
I hate playing rogue and encah shammy and even then I feel like more exciting than playing my BM…
I don’t like how they shoe-horned a bunch of weird pets I’d never use in there, like those mythical wolves and random bears and stuff. Any additional pet summon proc should always be a pet from your stables, not random crap.
Got my hunter to 651 this evening mostly could her to 655 at least or so before reset still need to farm dinars to get another heroic track trinket and maybe some low leve dungeons or use main to do some horrific vision and buy champion gear for my hunter.
I hear you. I’ve been so bored with my hunter. I’m strictly a solo player but even so, there are not enough buttons to push! lol I’ve been playing my monk more and I’m enjoying it. It’s sad though, my BM hunter was always my main but not so much anymore.
You’re already using dire beast, bloodshed, call of the wild, explosive shot, gonna guess you’re also pressing kill shot, how many more buttons do you need for your crazy build?
It’s probably being locked into a rotation that’s boring you. When you persistently using same abilities it can feel like there’s nothing else.
Swapping to other modes can help. Different types of content can require different builds. You saying you are a solo player does that mean you have not tried other modes?
I used to group some but I found people in this game to be rather rude. I am sure there are nice folks but I had bad experiences. I am used to grouping in EQ2. We would hang out in Discord while we grouped and raided. Everyone was friendly and helpful and no one dropped out of group because they got what they came for. I guess I just got tired of the foolishness so I decided to go solo. Anyway, yeah I think it’s the rotation that’s boring me but I’ll just play other toons for a while and go back to it.
When you say you’re strictly a solo player, what content are you doing? I took a couple years off the game, and am playing again. I’ve leveled 3 of my characters to 80 and am having fun playing around with the specs and “re-learning” the game. I’ve started to do delves, work on some X-Mog & mounts, battle pets, etc.
Im definitely not a very competitive player anymore so I would love to hear what all content is out there nowadays that I can do solo / with my Brother tagging along.
I do a lot of what you’re doing already. Delves and I’m working on my battle pet collection. I’m at 1540 atm. I run all the pet WQ’s that give coins. I do follower dungeons when I need it for renown/faction. I work on renown when I need to. I’ve been putting all my alts through the Legion class hall campaign for titles/mounts. I do WQ’s. I am also working on my toy collection, obtaining old toys that I don’t have. Basically whatever comes up that I can solo. Like the horrific visions and lately the treasure goblins.
