How long does it take for mobs/quest items to respawn? How much XP do I get for traveling? How much for Mob kills and quest turn-ins? What is an effective/efficient way to level on a fresh server with a zerg of 200+ new characters in each starting zone (just a guess)? The main question that is so hard to guess/test and that question is “How to Level on a Fresh Server?” What would be faster and/or better than waiting in line for a quest item to spawn in or mobs?
You get more exp on mob kill (combined) than you do on a quest turn-in. Quest turn-ins are mostly for gear. And leveling isn’t that bad. That’s why we have a system called “partying”. Leveling on a FRESH server is basically the same as playing on a server that has been out for a while. Meaning: It’s gonna take a good while.
Took me about 45 mins to get the first quest done in the stress test. There were 3-5 players camping each spawn. Really gonna have to find a detailed youtube guide to figure out the best way.
What I have found is to avoid quests that require you to obtain items that are spawned in the world. For example, the quest in the gnome/dwarf starting zone to collect a gnomes tools. Skip.
Always kill mobs from point a to point b. Even if they’re non-aggressive mobs. If they’re in your way, it is in your best interest in the long run to kill it. It will drop items for you to sell and reward you experience you’re not having to fight someone over by trying to tag mobs.
Ty for the information! I was able to get to level 5 in under 1hr 30min without killing or collecting anything. So… I think I am coming up with a ok plan because of the information given. Thanks!
Keeping in mind it’s going to be bad the first few days and then level off. Have patience, you’re not going to make it to 60 in a day. Or a week.
Heck, just ignore the quests and run around looking at stuff. I went to Stormwind, to Ironforge, Kharanos and so on. Kharanos is a little dicey at level 2 or so, but hey, what’s a little death between friends?
Kill enough “boars” in Elwynn to hit level 4 or 5 and you’re set. Just don’t wander into Redridge. Or Westfall, for that matter.
Then, after the hubbub has settled down, go back and do the quests…
For the people talking about running around and leveling my exploration. How the hell do you afford spells ?
Groups. Groups and socialising will be your best bet.
With 4 boars and 4 groups you can spread the quest objective up to 20 instead of the expected 4.
You will find it much easier to consistently complete early quests by being in a party with other people so you aren’t competing as hard.
As you get further along the experience and more variance occurs within player level/quest completion will cause less of a fight over resources, but to be sure the first few levels it’s best just to spread the love.
I am simply going to wait a week or two to avoid all that.
Not sure how layering is going to effect this but if you can manage it level early in the morning when less players are on. There will be far less competition that way.
I want to know this too!
Killing whatever mobs you come across. Lots of defias pirates and the like. And keep in mind what I’m mostly saying is that you might as well do some touristing if otherwise you’ll just have to sit and camp Kobold Vermin for hours to try to kill ten of them. A few days to a week in, things will have calmed down considerably.
Like 2am.
you put 1 foot infront of the other and kill some mobs
do that a million times and you are 60, gz
Can someone explain if it’s faster to level by just grinding mobs all the way to 60 or not?
Getting exp from traveling is ok the first somewhat levels its slower but you get flight paths skip fighting over mobs and you lack money for upgrades which could be easy to get.
So you could level up to 4 if you are prepare by traveling if you know what routes to go and be able to not waste time fighting over few mobs with players at the start.
You can make coin by killing low mobs or going to places that have secret stashes of items to sell, after exploring. With little coin from killing those mobs or selling random junk you would probably have enough to upgrade the necessary abilities to start leveling up.
Probably not because of armor upgrades being all white, you may have to do some quests for gear to make its great.
Most people I have heard usually say its faster to quest.
All I can say is leveling by grinding probably would be faster if you had enchants and items sent by a main.
But it mainly would depend on the people on the server because mobs are resources and there is competition to slay them.
No.
Quests are worth significant amounts of XP, especially if you were going to be killing the mobs anyway.
You will still want to do quest whenever possible since you will be killing mobs anyways.
Because of this Post: I have started to make and record videos of Fresh human character leveling by just traveling and turning in simple quests. Will the XP gain be similar to Launch?
XP gains in retail are VASTLY different than they are in Classic. Your video won’t be accurate.
