Sometimes when I sell items I get that are green I can get 12+ gold selling them on the AH… sometimes nothing. How do I know which items to auction or which are just vendor trash. blue items too I never know. I don’t want to use add ons is there anyway of knowing
If you don’t want to use addons, searching the individual item (or item type, if it’s one that’s “of xxx”).
Trash greens are often bought not for use, but for enchantment grinding if the mats aren’t on the AH or are being gouged, which isn’t uncommon. If a green item doesn’t sell, just disenchant it and re-list the mats at or just under market cost.
Most blue items are worth looking up in your AH, as they can easily be twink bait that go for very high prices. If they aren’t a twink item, they often won’t be bought at all though, as a buyer might well consider any price worth selling it for to be a waste for an item destined for vendoring.
OP, short answer is “you don’t”. you can search for similar listings or you can guess.
personally i just vendor greens.

My rule of thumb is to vendor weapons, disenchants all else, except those that have an obvious unique quality or a sought after stats balance. Greens are not what they once were. Some still sell on high pop servers. Low level greens still have small value for alts. You probably lose more value by spending time thinking about it now that Classic is in phase 6. Vendor weapons. Trash trash. Disenchant the rest.
I use auctionator… you can scan the AH to see how much items sell for. I also use Vendor Price addon to see how much items vendor for.
I don’t use auctionator because it causes issues with my game, but others in your guild should have it set so if you type ?[link item] in guild chat they’ll whisper you the sale history.
Most people’s addon that responds to ?[item] is almost always outdated.
All the addons that record useful info like that need constant upkeep and are kinda annoying to use. Best bet is to just guess a price that you are happy with.
