Gouge on pet lasts 5.5 sec and I attack the hunter (assuming they are close to pet) hunter melees me back with raptor strikes and melee crits for 250 and I die. I have no energy to burst after spending on gouge.
That’s assuming I didn’t get lightning breathd for 160-300 3x in a row before I could gouge. If I want a 2nd DR’d gouge on pet I lose combo points but I’m already dead by then
I’d say right now it’ll be tough regardless of pet damage, but if you’re not a rogue with Engineering you’re already putting yourself at a disadvantage.
Engineer Rogues will have a lot of capabilities to lock down an enemy. Unfortunately, rogue is without a LOT of their best kit.
Only strat I would think of is if you sapped the hunter and killed their pet before sap ends. Restealth, resap, bandage/eat, then kill the hunter. All you got really.

Without feign trap, killing a hunter as a rogue is a free kill assuming you get the opener.
You will absolutely take dmg, but you should never lose that match up if you get to open

If they don’t have a trap down, ambush and backstab them over and over and over again with evasion up and you’ll likely win. If just the wind serpent is sending you to the graveyard, you need to gear more stamina.
That kind of works if you get lucky crits and they don’t turn around. Was looking for something more consistent
At this point I’d say it’s pretty clear that the devs had some weird hate for Rogue and Mage and a few other select specs. They clearly thought “oh noes Rogues and Mages were dominant in Vanilla, we will not give them as many shiny toys” and overnerfed them / overbuffed others in classic Blizz fashion.
They give Ferals the Wrath Treatment and Windfury on top of that. Warlock gets two different 50 point Wrath talents at level 2, one of which is an IMPROVED instacast Haunt. Meanwhile Rogue doesn’t even get a 40 point talent — they get a completely neutered version of a 40 point talent while Warlock gets an improved 50 pointer. Uh huh.
And have you tried Rogue tanking? It’s a complete joke. You have a taunt! As long as you’re cool using up all of your combo points. Wpow
Pop evasion immediately and hope for the best.
Bleed/poison him up, vanish and hide.
Sap and kill pet.
Distract him off a cliff!
Some of those work better in vanilla. You’re missing cheap shot and good crippling so it’s a struggle atm.
Telling someone to ‘take meds’ is a federal criminal offense. I’d be careful of who you say that to. Especially since your real name and info are on your Blizzard profile which every1 on this forum can see.

What’s the name of the medication? I bet this large scale co-ordinated gaslighting + dogpiling of an individual telling them to “take their meds” could be a good start to a lawsuit. Keep it coming, i like money.
Some classes are unfavored in PvP in this first phase. I guarantee you next phase rogues are going to be busted when most of their actual pvp kit becomes available.
