How to horde players feel about Blood Elves?

Them being part of the horde makes perfect sense after what Garithos did to them. As far as what races people play, I don’t care. Everyone else can play naked gnomes for all I care. The only cosmetics I concern myself with are my own characters.

Well considering half of the Horde population is Blood Elf, I’d say most feel pretty good about em. Freakin elves.

I started out as alliance in vanilla, since a RLF got me into it. He was into raiding and i couldn’t commit to 5 hour blocks of time. Then i found out my dagorhir friends were playing wow on horde, they enjoyed that theme more. So i made a horde toon. Oddly enough, they let me raid with them a bit. I really enjoyed the fast queues in BGs. Horde did need a good looking race because numbers were not at all balanced.

Enter blood elves. Suddenly all alliance and horde players switched to blood elves in mass. Now the balance was even worse. And horde became the cool sorority race.

As a result i switched back to alliance, because i prefer the underdog misfit theme.

Ive played since Vanilla, imo out of place. In that the Elves made an alliance of convenience that shouldve died when SunStrider did and when it was realized Garithos’s racism towards the Elves during the Scourge War that put them on the path to being “Blood Elves”. Also the Troll beef (also to the lore the Trolls were notorious for eating their elf captives) and what the Arthas/Scourge/Forsaken destroying the first Sun Well.

I don’t need to look superficial to be confident in myself, As for jealousy far from it, I love myself, I love being an Orc I would never trade it for anything. I won’t sell out to buy my future or look like a pompous, narcissistic a-hole. What’s your excuse? Elves have never belonged in the Horde and I am tired of pretending they do.

I played Horde for the majority of vanilla.

My WoW hot take: BEs never belonged in the Horde, and you’re not a “real” Horde player if you main a BE (or NB for that matter). Sorry, not sorry.

Why? No part of me wants to be with the Alliance, that’s for sure. BEs have been in the Horde since the first expac. They’ve earned their place. Sorry we couldn’t be ugly enough.

There’s nothing to be sorry for I’m thankful someone shares my views on the matter. I’ve been here since vanilla (between 05-06 can’t really remember) as well my uncle introduced me to the game sadly he no longer plays. We both love the Horde I still remember what he said the day TBC was announced. “This is how the spirit of the Horde dies.”

Never got the appeal of them.

They mean that in bedroom way… Not a canibalistic way.

They would fit in if they didn’t bring the sunwell back and continued down the path of using and eventually mastering fel magic.

I have always and will always oppose any “pretty” or “cute” race being in the Horde. It obliterates the aesthetic. The Horde was always meant to be the “noble beasts” faction: Orcs, Trolls, Goblins, Ogres, Minotaurs (Tauren), etc. I know I can do nothing about it now, but damn if I would not retcon the ish out of Blood Elves being added if I had the authority to…

I’ve felt out of place in the Horde as a Tauren, BElf, and a Nightborne.

Couldn’t find a single place in Orgrimmar to set my Hearth that felt like somewhere either of my Elves would want to be. Nowhere scholarly or classy to hang out. Just mud huts and spikes.

Tauren I just feel awkward because the Forsaken blight everything in sight and the Orcs love to clearcut forests left and right.

you’re not alone in that I’d probably do the same. Best anyone can do is just not play with elves, Nothing in the rules state that you’re forced to play with anyone. It’s not an easy life but it’s doable.

To be fair, the burning crucade blood elves, the starved fel abusing desperate to survive mana-vampires who torture Naru for power and have bound demons walking the streets absoloutly fit into the Horde. They were a vampire trope monster race. Orcs, trolls, minotaurs, zombies and vampires.

But the blood elves got watered down by Highelf whiners, and blizzard kept making the bloodelves more like high elves, diluting the individuality untill they lost all the darker more monsterous aspects of their race.
