Hey all, I’ve heard it stated that during m+, often you won’t ever cast living flame except as DPS, but I find myself running into scenarios where the group is taking damage fairly outside of spiritbloom/VE/dream breath scenarios and I need to top them up.
often times, a quick set of echos + a living flame will often cast and do it, but I find myself in scenarios far more where I have “no big ability other than living flame” to press in between aoe pulses from packs of npcs or stuff like that.
To quote my guild’s one tank “I feel far safer when you are healing on your druid or monk vs your evoker” and… that’s bizarre to me.
Maybe it’s a gear thing (These are m0s and im still not well geared) but… in DF I remember my heals basically keeping people topped off. An echoed dreambreath on the party kept the entire group up usually. Now it’s not enough it seems.
Probably just a gear thing, but… maybe I’m doing it wrong. Help me dragonwan kenobi.
I mained Pres all through Dragonflight, but haven’t done tooo much in TWW. Taking a healing break lol
So these might not be completely up to date
But some quick tips that might help you out are:
- Have your echos out before the big hits, as much as possible
- If your group is cooperating and not scattered every which way, TA is the most efficent way to get echos out. You will have to manually echo the hunter in Narnia
- Echos into reversion/golden hour is a big help in M+
- Keep reversion rolling on everyone as much as possible
- Echos into instant cast chrono flame
- Instant cast chrono flame in general, is a very good heal I’ve found
- Try and keep Call of Ysera up as much as possible. But you especially want it up for Dream Breath
- Don’t be afraid to use higher ranks of Dream Breath. I tend to favour rank 2 unless I’m throwing out a “maintenance” dream breath.
- Try and not to waste Stasis. (I’m still bad for this lol)
Hope these help somewhat!

Thanks for the tips, this lines up with what i remember of df yeah. I think things are slightly different in TWW but the biggest one is that… the damage comes in much more frequently.
The biggest thing is to not waste your other abilities just because they’re available. It’s kind of like unlearning the DPS mindset of “use your best abilities ASAP”. Also, having a good feel for what amount of healing does what.
In my experience Pres is the healer that most benefits from knowing the damage profile of the run you’re doing.
The other aspect of it too comes down to how much avoidable damage your group is taking. Where other healers may run out of mana keeping accident prone groups up, preservation may just run out of abilities first.
Practice good stasis usage in those situations. But at a certain point it’s not you it’s them.
Don’t Forget about Fire Breath… you have it talented to Heal. Rank 5 is a decent Heal in 5 Mans. I typically Cycle between TA/Echo - SpiritBloom…TA/Echo VE/Dream…and Flamebreath…Rotate a Reversion in those Combos as my go to heals.
Things get Hairy don’t forget, Lifebind everyone and pop EC.
I’m maining Pres with the Flameshaper talent this season. Living Flame is normally my highest heal %. That one talent that makes it insta cast gives it 50% bonus heals, and Ysera’s Gift or w/e it’s called gives it a 100% boost. When you charge up Fire Breath to full there’s that one talent that turns Living Flame into an equivalent of Paladin’s Divine Toll and it hits all 5 party members. If you combine those bonuses, you basically have a Revival every 30 seconds. So I’ll alternate spending Ysera’s Gift on Living Flame cleaves and Dream Breaths.
