Many will be new to classic like myself, any advise on how one would obtain some free bags?
Level tailoring or hope for drops.
Horde can get some bags semi-early from Leatherworking, but its a little more involved.
Beware of people selling 6-slot bags for over 5s, at that price you can just go to a vendor.
Any specific mobs that drop bags early on Alliance and Horde side?
Just about every early mob has a chance to drop bags I believe.
Yeah, what Soul said. They just drop randomly off pretty much anything over level 5. Maybe lower, I don’t remember dropping any bags in the starter zones.
RNG. I think humanoid mobs have a better chance of dropping them.
if RNG isn’t playing nice, you should end up with enough silver for a small bag. a few extra slots still goes a long way but I would not recommend getting more than one bag off the vendor.
You might try collecting a ton of mats and trade them to a player for a bag. you could become a tailor. ~9 wool cloth (3 bolts) +fine thread for a 8 slot bag. learned at profession skill 80
Beg the wow gods for a lucky drop. Once came out of the starter zone with a full set of 6-slot.
Not even that, you can make 6-slots at tailoring 45 for 6 linen cloth and 3 coarse thread.
My plan is go get my alt to stormwind, get their cloth profession moving.
Start my Main, feed cloth to alt, have bags made… continue my journey get main to 20… rest…
Get alt going on their journey, making larger bags… till he/she is 20 … then rest toon.
Back to Main hopefully now armed with larger bags…
Thats my plan, but probably will just get sucked into my mains story line and forget about plan. LOL
hmm missed that one.
There’s vendors that sell bags in most early towns, I believe (that is to say Brill and Crossroads both did at least)…
They aren’t cheap, and buying a bag or two may cost you to not be able to buy skills for two levels… But so long as you aren’t getting a primary attack upgrade for those levels, the investment is more than worth it, just in extra room for things to eventually vendor when you do make a town run.
Beyond that, for alts, remember most bags (especially the early ones) don’t bind, and be sure to hand down your old bags to alts rather than outright vendoring them.

My tailoring alt will be selling them, make sure you’ve got plenty of gold ready to send to me.
