A while ago I uninstalled WoW, but i’m ready to return and play. However I noticed in my files, specifically Programfilex86/World of warcraft/Data there is still 65 GB of files, even though I uninstalled the game.
What i’m wondering is, obviously this must be the game data, so is there someway I can make the game use it instead of downloading the whole thing from scratch? Would save me many hours of waiting (I’m on slow Australian internet lol)
Èskimo,
If those game files are actually still there then yes, you can use them. When installing the game, just install into the …/Programfilex86/World of warcraft again and the installer will identify any files in there and skip over them when you install. It will still look like it’s installing the whole game, but it will take less time as it skips over files it finds.
Please note that the Windows Control panel has a bug in it that causes it to sometimes display programs that have been uninstalled as still there though. If you only see the files in the Control panel, then they probably aren’t actually there. However, if you manually looked at the folder and still see them, you should be fine to install over them re-purpose those files.

Yes, thank you, I beileive you are correct.
I did it in a different way - I made the client “Repair” itself and it found the existing files using that, then downloaded whatever was missing. (A paltry five GB instead of the full seventy)
But thanks for your help!
