How to get started on Torghast?

I skipped Shadowlands, but want to run Torghast for the mounts and mogs. Thing is I have no idea where Torghast even is or how to access it. Do I need to actually do shadowlands content in order to unlock it, or can I go straight there after the SL opening scenario and Oribos unlock?

If I do need to progress thru the story, how much of it do I actually need to do? And what’s the most efficient/quickest way for me to do it?

I believe you need to pledge to a covenant, then get the intro quest from Bolvar that takes you to the Maw.

You meet with Venari to get the quest to access Torghast.

So you do have to do a bit of SL content to get in there.

Don’t do it.

Save yourself.

If you skipped SL, you’ll need to start by doing the bread crumb quest to get there, and it’ll hand hold you almost till you get to opening Torghast.

Alts have an easier and quicker time. Or that may be changed… not sure.

i just opened torghast on a new character as well. make sure you get your “box of many things” too, while you are unlocking torghast. itll let you unlock adamantine vaults for more transmog ect

I just started questing on Bastion. Tell me I don’t have to do ALL FOUR zones to unlock covenants and Torghast??

Blizzard really needs to update the old content, especially raids.

I don’t expect to run SL raids…yet, but BFA? Bosses that are impossible to beat because of the mechanics (Uldir, mythrax).

I don’t care if it takes a little time to beat their huge hp down, not expecting to one-shot stuff but I also don’t want the fight to end instantly because I get mind controlled and the boss resets, when you step in the room! Or you get DOTs, unable to dispel them and are getting 60k of damage every second halfway into the fight. Just stupid.

I did the grunt work of unlocking covenants, as I also skipped Shadow Lands. It was about 4-ish hours of back and fourth to muddle through the campaign before I could join a covenant and actually do anything in the expansion, including the tutorial run through Torghast. I just wanted an emo elf with red eyes, which is also locked behind the campaign and covenant admission.

It was…fine. The campaign was fine. It finishes strong, at least. I found the Vampire-land the most amusing of the offered after-life theme parks, at the very least. Shadow Lands is a nice place to visit, glad I didn’t have to live there. Just be aware it’s going to be a little bit of a commitment before you can even start your grind.

You have to do all 4 zones and then a bunch of other quests to finally get into torghast.

I will say though it was totally worth it. I too skipped SL and I find Torghast to be very fun, especially since we can own it and not struggle like 60s did in SL.

I will warn you though, some of those take A LOT of time. Like the ones you are doing for 1/1 pets or mounts like the jailer’s one, took me 45-60mins to do each one as there are like 18 or so floors…something like that and you have to do lvl 1 lvl 2 lvl 3 etc…so its HOURS of content.

Also you want to do hours of them to unlock the bonuses from the box of many things…that makes it even easier.

IMO it is one of the better things in wow in the past 10 years for fun content.

I appreciate the detailed answer. Thank you

If you can find a nice person who has done it a lot they can start you at their level so you get to skip a lot.

At 60 it wasnt too bad to solo so I assume at 70 upu smash through it.

I think the only thing I hated about questing in SL was Bastion. That zone sucks so hard.

All the other zones though are pretty cool. Maldraxxus isn’t the prettiest, but it’s pretty easy to navigate and the RP is minimal.

Ardenweald was super pretty, but I didn’t enjoy being gated at level 56, being forced to do side quests.

Revendreth though is a good lookin zone, and it’s fun. (In my opinion)

TL:DR Once you get past Bastion, you’ll really like it.

Yeah I’m in Bastion right now and it’s pretty bad not gonna to lie. Going to try to zoom through it tonight and hopefully enjoy the other zones more. I really just want to get to Torghast already so I can farm those mounts

Blizzard removed Threads of Fate so alts need to do the campaign in all four zones, unlock a covenant, and build renown to unlock Torghast.

Just what I thought, azeroth save the souls going into SL for the first time lol

There’s a lot of haters for Shadowlands don’t let them sway you.

SLands had a great questing/solo experience.

Torghast can be so much fun. I really wish they would have made a new version of it with DF

I mean, yeah. That one of the few good things it DID have.

This is not 100% correct. If you wait to enter SL until after you have hit 70 and you meet all the original requirements for it, you can still get into threads. I did it on an evoker alt and I could go into Torghast right away.

Blizzard probably made an exception for Evokers. I haven’t tried with my Evoker. I have absolutely no reason to take that character to Shadowlands. Last character I took there had to do everything over. I left the zone because I had already done it multiple times and didn’t need to go there that badly.
