How do you get Soul Ash? I’ve wasted endless hours on this stupid towers just to fail and end up with nothing?
What am I doing wrong. What can I solo. What is the concept here?
Or is it more… join random/mindless LFG and grind levels…

grind cosmic flux and buy the lego package in zereth mortis it gives you a lot of soul ash to make a max rank legendary
As above said, in zm theres a item you can buy that gives you enough ash for the top legadery. I did it on my healer not to long ago
The old way was doing torgust,l. You can still do it that way but its slow with a new/low gear character. At higher levs some classes and solo it really fast, but the zm way is faster
You get soul ash from literally ANY difficulty in Torghast. From 1-16. That’s it.
You can get some from the mission tables too but good luck trying to use that to actually make a leggo.
You spend hours online to not find your answer? There’s one answer: Torghast. Like I found in the first 11 results when I just Googled it.
This. First character I realized that was a thing, you get all ash and cinders you need (and can maybe make like a 252 just off what it gives you, but still paying for the crafted white) so add 2000 cosmic flux to that (and maybe double priced crafted item, still very reasonable compared to earlier in the patch) and you can rock a 291.
All my other characters have 235s because I didn’t like the cinder grind, which to me is still worse than the flux grind believe it or not. After spending 2k I already have almost enough for 2 pieces of tier, which I don’t have the precursors for anyway.
Tip for torghast, no matter what it tells you ilvl unless you’re super stacked stay away from anything beyond layer 5. I only do layer 5s, they are easy, once I get rid of torments with the box I will slowly creep up to 6 maybe 7 (if I can kill 2 torments).
I find playing with torments to be practically impossible while the highest difficulty not involving them generally becomes trivial. You only need to do 3-4 layer 5s to have your 5.2k ash which is all you’ll ever need. Since I don’t craft all kinds of legendaries I am actually way over on ash now.
Cinders that’s a whole other story, I think they only drop a little off layers with torments. I didn’t get any on this character except the free ones (well they cost a few hundred gold) that you can acquire once honored with enlightened. I didn’t even know the essentially free mats were a thing before a week or two ago, I was ready and willing to never have over a 235 on any character because I hate torghast and cinders are still very very slow going.
So… you went to the tower, good first place… and then did you read the rewards note? The little circle there when you click the layer you want? It tells you the reward.
If you do not finish the layer, then yes, you don’t get anything (as far as I know) if you beat the layer, then you get the indicated amount of materials.
If you are failing Torghast, you are either trying to do a level that you aren’t geared for or you are picking the wrong powers.
Don’t pick all DPS powers, you need to be able to survive some hits. Read a guide for your class to see what the best powers are and how they interact with each other.
A couple of Torgast runs will get you enough ash and cinders to get you a 235(?) Legendary, to any higher, you need to farm flux in ZM.
It just isn’t happening, I cant win any of these levels. It is just ridic spending an Hour+ only to reach a floor you can’t pass, die and not gain a single thing.
Oh well. Plenty of other grind stuff to do. This isn’t it for me, zero fun lol.
