How to get Right click auto reporting out of classic

This is something that many people are saying is a problem. The quickest way to get blizzard to remove, or at least refine their auto reporting system in classic is for players to abuse it often, and every player who gets hit with it needs to fight it.

I don’t think players should abuse the reporting system, but when guild leaders are fighting over raiders and people start mass reporting other guilds for recruitment it is going to get out of hand.

Fight every fraudulent report with a ticket. Blizzard has to check those by hand. If blizzard has too many people both abusing and appealing reports they will have to refine the system at least.

Sorry this does not echo the rest of everyone with just complaining, but I am just offering a way to force blizzard’s hand

Right-click reporting is absolutely fine in Retail. The benefits vastly outweigh the few problems it causes.

I see no problem adding it in for Classic. I don’t think anyone should be concerned about this unless they are the type of unsociable and irritating person that tends to get reported.

This isn’t going to go the way you think it is.

Right click report in only an issue for streamers. That’s like 0.001% of the game’s population, if not less. Also, 97% or statistics are made up.

Agree with the OP. If,and it’s a major IF, it’s getting abused please file tickets and take it to the customer support forum. If it’s squashing legitimate trade chat or swaying battleground outcomes, please please please bring your actual evidence of it happening and let the community push for change. But since the game isn’t out and the system currently doesnt exhibit those problems and hasn’t for the years it’s been in use, let’s just hold off on developing a different system?

Personally I hope Blizzard comes down hard on people who are caught abusing the RCR system.

Maybe guild recruitment could happen in the guild recruitment channel? Crazy concept, I know…

With the auto report system you can disconnect players from BG’s & Mute players.

A mute in classic wow is far worse than a mute in BFA.

classic did not have a guild recruitment channel

I believe that consistently falsely reporting people can get you banned so I wouldn’t suggest you do this.

What?

There is no Auto Report system, unless you use an addon like Bad Boy or something like that…

That said, it has to be a lot of reports to hit the auto-squelch. Believe me, as a retail player on an RP server, there’s plenty of trolls who need to be muted but even the auto-report doesn’t hit the auto-mute.

If anyone is actually worried, take the auto-squelch part out. Most players will be happy to have a temp ignore instead.

I know I wish I had this in Vanilla!

That would totally defeat the purpose of the system.

lol, I heard this before with exploits and hacks, it always ends up with a lot of players on vacation.

It wouldn’t. An issue with Classic is that there are a lot of people worried about trolls, for whatever reason. Vanilla had a maximum number of ignore slots, while the right-click report system will not.

Right-click report has the function of temporary ignores, while also generating a ping for a GM to look into the reported abuse.

The point is to put the onus for being a problem on the person being a problem, and not just let them continue to be a problem while putting the responsibility on everybody else to react to them by putting them on ignore.

That is the point of the auto-squelch. Ignore is nice and all, but people shouldn’t have to see somebody spewing racial epithets in /trade in the first place. The auto-squelch deals with the problem at its source.

Reporting you for not abusing the auto report system against little timmy who’s going to report us!

It doesn’t end there. It basically shuts the person up, til a GM reviews the case. If it’s bad, the GM will apply a silence, if it’s REALLY egregious, they might earn a slight break from the game. If the GM find nothing wrong, the squelch is lifted with no black mark on the account.

As for abuse, it could happen. But from what I have seen on the CS forums, those abusing the system earn a nice vacation from the game for a few days.

Ideally, yes, but the concerns are about abuse of an automated system that doesn’t have a person behind the action.

Don’t like someone? Have a ton of people right-click report that person to auto-squelch. I have seen the sort of drama where this sort of thing can happen.

There’s no perfect solution. In Vanilla, you could ignore and report people all day, but nothing would happen for hours after the incident.
