How to get more people to play keys above 15

Introduce a new type of token for Mythic+ that can be exchanged for a 210 version of ANYTHING from the M+ loot table that only drops from keys 16 and above.

Currently, keys above 15 have a 20% per extra key level to drop a random addition item. That’s nice and all, but it’s so scattershot and doesn’t really help you if you have a very specific item you want to get. Say I can time 17s but I still don’t have a Blood-Splattered Scale. What does the game actually encourage me to do - continue playing random 17s and maybe trying 18s, or farming 12 DOS? The later, it encourages me to farm DOS over and over. That’s super dull, bad design, yada yada.

Introducing this new token system would do wonders for getting people to play higher keys. Even just playing a 16, you’d personally have roughly a 4% chance of getting a token that you could exchange for something useful. That’s roughly equal to spamming the same key over and over for the one piece of loot you really need.

You could also use this same token as an enticement to engage in your weekly content. Instead of just awarding a Heroic Nathria cache for doing 5 Mythic dungeons during dungeon weeks, you could award this token instead. Lower-end players would be happy to pick a specific piece of dungeon loot they want (without invalidating heroic raid loot, because the item would only be 210 without upgrades) and higher end players would still be encouraged to participate because they could get a token they could exchange for something they can upgrade.

Honestly, you could nail an entire flock of birds with this one system.

Remove the timer :stuck_out_tongue: or just get rid of M+ altogether! It is a toxic system aimed at people that don’t really want to play a MMO RPG. There are plenty of AARPGs on the market, go play one of those if you want to speed run dungeon trash all day.

The push to turn the game into a seasonal lobby game (World of Diablocraft) has been destroying the soul of this game now for the last 3 expansions.

@OP I thought M+ participation was sky high?

210 ilvl? Lmao.

M+ was meant as a help to aid us reach Mythic Raiding. It is not Mythic Raiding. It ends on M+15. When you reach M+15, it means you are ready for Mythic Raiding.

If I were you, focus on Mythic Raiding. There’s really nothing above M+15 except doing the leaderboard of M+.

Remove timers.
uncapped ilvl loot from higher keys.
20 key for example should give you ilvl230.
Cap the vault rewards at 226 tho.

Or just offer more Valor

It was never and will never be what you are saying.

Well luckily for everyone who loves RPGs there a ton of untimed content they can enjoy without taking this away from the people who like it!

One way to do this would be to get rid of the weekly rotation of affixes. Some weeks I won’t consider pushing my key up because a 16 one week can feel like a 13 on another.

Too bad this system has infected the entire game though.

This. Timers are the root cause of the anxiety of Mythic+.

Since keys can infinitely scale, I don’t see why it can’t be about completing the highest key possible in the quickest time possible, rather than completing a key within a set amount of time or fail.

You only fail if you don’t complete the dungeon at all.

The timer is the only difficulty. Without the timer you’d just see groups with 2 tanks and/or 2 healers cause dps doesn’t matter.

Your next key gets bumped down if you don’t make the time.

That’s not true with an infinitely scaling system. You will eventually hit a brick wall because the damage output is simply too large.

You definitely don’t want to be farming drops on 12’s. That’s hugely inefficient for valor costs.

That’s ok. You still get loot, a vault, and now you have a key that you’re more likely to time.

That’s not ok if your goal is to push higher keys. If your only goal is loot, then there is a ceiling where nothing else above that matters, but if you haven’t hit that ceiling or are just pushing as high as you can, then depletion is absolutely punishment for failure.

I have no idea who thought it would be a good idea to stop rewarding players beyond a +15. This is my main complaint about mythic+. Why does mythic raiding shrieking give way better loot than a +25 mythic dungeon?

Sure it is. Practice makes perfect.

You’d have to get pretty high up before the dungeon just wasn’t able to be completed. Completion is a given in regular keys.
