I’m stuck with inscription. I had one goal: specialize in staves and make the best staves I can make. I maxed out staves, runebinding, and woodcarving. Then I maxed out Rune Mastery and I’m 3/4 of the way through Infinite Discovery (for the inspiration).
Even with that, I can’t guarantee rank 4 staves yet. My inscription is level 67 (thanks to Darkmoon Faire I got 2 extra skillups). No one wants me to make a staff for them because they don’t want me to use their hard-earned mats and sparks when I can’t even guarantee rank 4.
I finally got to “Valued” with the Artisan’s Consortium and bought the recipe for the blue profession tools, but… same problem. They require 300 mettle EACH, and because I wanted to make staves, I can’t even guarantee rank 3 tools, so no one wants me to waste their mettle on crappy tools.
There aren’t even any orders in the order system anyway. So how am I supposed to level this profession? No matter what I think of there’s a reason it won’t work. I’m really confused, frustrated and stuck. Is there something important that I’m missing? Or did I do this totally wrong?
Are you doing the weeklies and collecting all the random bits of knowledge around DF? Or speaking to your hidden profession trainer?
Every week when I collect all of the hidden dragon knowledge, I get roughly 25 points which is 75 mettle. Then you get your 60+ from the consortium.
I don’t think they’re talking about the knowledge points, it’s leveling the profession skill itself. I’m stuck at 69 inscription and the only recipes that give skill up are darkmoon card decks or staves. At a certain point you can’t make any progress without people putting in work orders. Right now it seems like every person is trying to craft their own stuff instead of using orders unless you’re a JC or BS.
I’m having the same issue. If you don’t go in the Runebinding specialization your options are really limited of what you can make after a certain point. I just hit Valued with the Artisan’s consortium, so I can make two new profession items that are expensive to craft but I can finally get a skill up.
Otherwise the only recipes that can level for me require Sparks, and it seems like everyone is using their sparks on neck pieces and weapons. It seems like if you want to do inscription and get it maxes we will be waiting a long time.
(Also I have 6 of the mount equipment recipes, then only give the “green” amount of skill experience so it’s not hardly worth making because of how expensive they are.)
I love the idea of the order system, but players aren’t using it. People still think they need to be a “Jack-of-all-trades” and make their own stuff. That’s not how the system is designed. You’re supposed to pick a specialization, and then allow other people to help you. I keep running into this with people I play with. I will whisper them letting them know I unlocked something they can use. They respond with “Thats awesome! I need to start working on that with my alt.” I reply back, “I’ve already all my points to unlock that path so I can make that for you…” I mean I’m not even charging friends or guildmates unless it requires an extremely rare or expensive mat to make.
Oh, but no. You’re not doing anything really all that wrong. Most people are using their mats to make JC and BS items. It’s just going to take long for an inscriptionist to level up.
Personally I think they need to increase the skill up of some of the other recipes up to at least 80 before they’re forcing you to only make things using Sparks.
The rolling pin doesn’t. It just needs 30 Draconium and 12 runed writhebark. I went from 67-98 making these for literally all my alts and any guildie who could be bothered to put in a crafting order with my mats (it goes yellow at 90 and green at 95; I kept my Darkmoon Faire +2 for the last two points).
Downside: costs about 20k per rolling pin.
stuck at 90 jewel. Can only get higher with recipes that require spark
Thank you, but the knowledge points aren’t really what I’m having trouble with. I get all the weekly knowledge points.
@Iskierkaa Thank you for pointing that out about the rollin pin. When I saw the 300 mettle on the alchemy tool I rolled my eyes and didn’t even buy the rolling pin recipe. That’s definitely better than nothing.
The recipes are from renown. Each profession has an easy to craft profession tool to get you the last 30 or so levels.
Scroll through your profession journal and hover your mouse over the little (I) to see where to get the patterns that’ll give you skill ups.
I’m starting to notice a pattern with a lot of these complaint posts. None of you read anything in the game.
Not really. Most profession tools cost a couple hundred mettle, but secondary profession tools don’t. Inscription, tailoring, and engineering (if you can get the fishing pole) are the only professions that make secondary profession gear. Everyone else either has to wait for crafting orders or waste a ton of mettle on primary profession gear if they go that route.
