Form a raiding guild or be involved in the formation of a guild (as an officer or main tank) very early on.
Understand your raid role in the guild and do it well, whether you are heals, dps or tank.
Level up a useful profession and gift items to the guild bank that are needed for raid success
Help recruit and train new raiders
Show up for raids, even progression raids where you know you are just going to wipe and get a repair bill.
Have a good attitude in raids
7A. Thunderfury - be the main tank and become so trusted by the guild leader that he knows you would not quit the guild if you got it. And be that person.
7B. Sulfuras - collect all of the ridiculous mats and construct the Sulfuron Hammer yourself. Show it to the guild leader to let him know you’d like to get an Eye of Sulfuras to complete the item.
7C. Atiesh - stick with your guild through thick and thin, during all the BWL and AQ40 wipes, during the droughts when your guild misses raids because people are giving up. Help grind Silithid chitins if your GL is trying to get the bug mount. Be that guy they can always count on from Phase 1 to Phase 5.
If you do these things, you will almost certainly get a legendary drop.
It’s not based on your dps or your DKP. It’s based on what you’ve done for your guild up to the point that it drops.
Nobody who’s raided seriously will disagree with you. Entitled retailbabies who’ve know nothing but personal loot will firmly disagree… And also never join a decent raiding guild, and will likely never personally see the items within their guild at any point in classic.
Well, as much as i hate to admit… those are true … except for ONE THING
Atiesh.
This one is going to be the hardest to choose on, because only one person can get it at a time … it would be a GOD DAMN WASTE if fragments goes to like 5 persons and those 5 person gather it each time a fragment drop ( A B C D E A … etc)
No, it wont be hard. Every guild worth their salt assigns 1 player to get the shards. Same thing happened with Valanyr Fragments, Shadowfrost Shards and Elementium. Only absolutely terrible guilds would distribute legendary materials freely without assignment.
It will go to the most dedicated caster officer, probably universally agreed on by the officer core.
Yeah, the guild leader is the main tank so he claimed Thunderfury. Whereas the top DPS Warrior who has the highest rank in PvP among his guildmates got denied to claim such legendary.
I don’t understand the criticism in this post. The OP is right on the money! Legendary items are not off spec, ffa rolls. They go to those who deserve them, and that’s decided by commitment and contribution.
Well, in one particularly embarrassing incident, the GM’s “girlfriend” got outed when a number of other officers posted her nudes in the guild forums. She retaliated by posting some of their nudes (one of whom was a married guy).
