How to fix Torghast in 4 easy steps

It’s also just simply not balanced for end-game play.

The Coldheart or Upper Reaches torments are so much worse than any of the other torments you can get. I’ve attempted Layer 8 twice, got the final boss to less than 1% before losing my last life (RIP my life - lost some extra lives due to bugs), and I can’t help but look at the situation and go “This would be be significantly easier if the boss didn’t have 30% extra HP” .

You need to completely rework how the bosses work, the powers, the torments, blah blah blah. It is simply not even close to remotely balanced right now. One run the stars can align, the next I just get killed by one auto-attack. It’s stupid.

I really enjoy mechanics like the Soulforges and how you can counter the threat by banking a ravenous anima cell on a previous floor and capturing a flametender as soon as you zone in, but then there’s stuff with no counter-play like angels intercepting onto you for 100k. Ugh.

My personal opinion is that keep Torghast as a meme gimmick and then use the assets to build out something else from it. Like Proving Grounds and M+ somehow mashed together.

I feel that way on my DH. then I get on my assassination rogue and wonder what I ever did to anyone to deserve this.

Regardless of how good player input is, Blizz never listens nor fixes its failed designs.

No, because there would still be a cap. It doesn’t allow you to go any further than the maximum allowable points, as I said in the initial post.

Would be nice if you could get rares and such when doing runs.

Choreghast otherwise is ignored once you get the legendary you want.

personally, I’d like to pass soul ash to my other toons. you know, the ones who need to be carried through or pick mobs one at a time.

I’d be fine running twisted corridors if it didn’t take 2.5 hours and most of the time give me the dog boss on floor 18, which is the worst possible boss to get as spriest, making me pretty much waste the entire run for absolutely nothing.

It’s happened at least twice now even with an extremely good torg build as well as damage pot, I cannot progress any further from Layer 3, and the few groups I’ve done TC with haven’t gone well enough for me to trust grouping up again.

soul ash catchup is a must. why the F isnt a thing yet. seriously. everything you say is cool. id add: instead of getting upgrades to torghast by doing maw stuff, we should upgrade stuff by doing torghast. lol.

also, i was thinking about torghast and the entire expansion. im at the point where im actually doing alts. i can see myself dipping into torghast now and then just to goof around on an alt. so theres that.

That’s a great point. I don’t mind the stygia to get the Torghast stuff, since it makes sense canonically.

And how much better would this be if you had a chance to get extra rewards for doing so?!

oh yeah. ill never pass up more rewards for sure.

I kind of have this joke /not a joke about Blizz and players.

If players like some thing ( ie Beta Torghast) Nerf it or break it.

If players hate something (cough cough borrowed power systems) then double down on it

I remember trying it in Beta and not being… quite… as convinced as some streamers (Preach) that this was amazing content.

Yes, you could go for hours and get more powerful till you became crazy. But, that was it. The lack of any rewards, no interesting drops, slow combat, etc really doesn’t make the place exciting even if you can power up to world shattering levels.

You forgot removing torments and adding something that adds a challenge to the higher layers instead of just an annoyance.

Blizzard has really gotten annoying confused with challenging the last couple expacs.

I’m there for you on Leaderboards. An account-based personal leaderboard would be a huge deal, even. People tend to be competitive, if not with others, than at least with themselves, and trying to beat their best score is totally something that would happen.

I mean, that’s basically what Twisting Corridors is like now, you get 92 powerups and… almost no payoff for 2 hours of your life.

Pretty much.

IMO torgast needs to lean more in the direction of a standard ARPG. E.g. random drops from mobs, speed it up a bit and not just use it as a source of a resource that, at some point, you won’t need anymore.

I’m not seeing a problem with that - why shouldn’t players get to experiment with all their legendaries, if they want to spend all that gold/mats?

What happened?

The difference between Torghast and the dungeons is absence of loot.
Torghast some randomisation to make it more interesting. Dungeons don’t.

I like TC. If I have time I will do L5 or L6 because I like it. L7+ is annoying.

I felt bad when I ran Torghast. After two weeks I said no and never looked back. I will just have to miss out because I dislike the content so much. How do we go from the mage tower which was great to this?
