How to fix ret paladins

Blizzard in this post I will underline how you can offer changes to Retribution Paladins.

Current issues:
Our utility isn’t enough to get us in to raids any more.
Our overall single target damage is some of the highest, if we’re dealing with a stand still patchwerk fight for this we will us - Varimathras as our Patchwerk fight.

Mobility Fixing should be simple enough.

  1. Get this horse out of here, I say that while also loving the kind of mindset with the horse, riding in to battle on a steed of glory. It’s cool but LESS WAY LESS effective.
    Bring back Emancipate & long arm of the law, that wouldn’t cause us to be to fast but just fast enough so we aren’t losing 15+ seconds on boss DPS when having to run away for mechanics.
  2. If “Blessing of Freedom” is stolen in some kind of way reduce it’s overall CD by 10 second.

AoE You can fix this is many of ways, let’s go over some of them shall we?

  1. Make Consecration baseline
  2. Work in to our tool kit “Judge Unworthy” & “Divine Tempest”
    For those that don’t know or don’t remember I will go in to depth #2

Judge Unworthy - When you deal damage to a target afflicted by Judgement, it has a 50% chance to spread to a nearby target.

What this would do is allow us to get more raw damage out of our AOE with Divine Storm, very useless & it would make us just about as powerful as frost death knights, if you played it properly.

Divine Tempest - Ashbringer Projects Divine Storm forward 20yds, damaging all enemies in its path.
Also increase damage dealt by Divine Storm by 20%

Now “DT” is a tad powerful, yes I do agree but however if you still allow it to be a cone attack & reduce it from 20% to 10%-15% it’s not as power & still extremely useful. However, keep in mind if we did not get “Judge Unworthy” it at 10%-15% would be a very small buff.

Single Target DPS There are ways we can fix our Single target damage as well for heavy movement fights.

  1. Hammer of Wrath - We all know what’s this is & what it does, so make it baseline that’s literally it!
  2. Tune our strength a little bit better.

Utility
Make our blessings raid wide! I’ve no bloody idea who thought it was a good idea to make it only valued to be on one person but this needs to be changed! We’re PALADINS!!! We bring utility to our raid teams & value, this should have NEVER been changed.

I fully plan to reading the entire post but the entire part about Utility is just dead on. Paladins in all genres including WoW has always had utility in it’s core but with Legion and BFA it is becoming increasingly smaller.

Honestly, we need auras back. Even if they made them CDs instead of always active sort of things it would be nice. Seriously, something is missing from the very core of the paladin experience without auras.

If I had it my way, YES

I entirely agree.

but because of what it represents.

the horse, and several other abilities across other classes are visible proof of diablo leaking into wow, divine steed is directly ripped from the crusader in D3.

yes please, hell, take away the holy power generation if you have to, but baseline would be awesome. (imo it’s one of those abilities that should be baseline across all 3 specs)

alternatively, bring back old seal of command.

and bring back auras.

I miss auras so much. Something so simple but still so neat to just passively give to everyone.

Noo! Paladins are, like, the only melee I can regularly beat 1v1 nowadays as a mage. Don’t take that away from me!

Really? I find mages to be one of the easier classes to beat in a 1v1 on my ret.

I find that if they rolled back the critical conjunction test method of holy energy output they could enhance the secondary attribute correlation of the dps upper wave molecules thereby balancing the harmonic disposition technique needed for the light force feedback aura distinction waves.

I think that is the only way they could fix it… but its just a theory.

I haven’t played my ret in a long time. Are they no longer a two button win spec anymore?

Instead of removing it, I think it’s “utility” function would be best represented by rolling the azerite trait Gallant Steed into the Cavalier talent.
And yes, either bring back an aura or two or make our Blessings party wide.

we need the raid wide buffs back!!

I wouldn’t take any OVERALL change to Paladins seriously until that stupid bubble changes.

In PvE, it’s an interesting dynamic. It doesn’t really matter if it is or isn’t OP, because bosses inherently have abilities we don’t, so if we have one class with some weirdo OP ability, it’s not like it affects the BOSS. lol

But in PvP, it should’t exist. Even when there were at least some counters to it (eg: Shattering Throw broke it), it still doesn’t belong in PvP.

From a balance standpoint, everything needs a counter. A class has a poison, another class has a detox. One has a huge damage dealer, another has a huge heal. So if a Paladin has 100% complete immunity, then another class should have 100% complete destruction-- in other words, the ability to 1-shot.

And hopefully every rational person just rolled their eyes at the incredible stupidity of even suggesting the idea of being able to 1-shot someone in PvP. And yet, the counter exists in the form of that stupid bubble. It doesn’t belong.
